The Technology I Radio-Frequency Identification (RFID) allows real time exchange and storage of information. Data is automatically read and written, allowing amendment or updating of the information, both remotely and in real time. The safety of this ongoing communication is guaranteed by encryption. In the transfusion chain, the RFID system thereby allows total traceability of transportation and storage flows. The Key Benefits of the 2BH-RFID Solution > Absolute identification and traceability of blood bags: The 2BH-RFID Solution allows to register and record all information exhaustively from donation until transfusion to patient. > Patient safety: Computerized management of the transfusion chain eliminates re-transcription errors and guarantees the delivery of the right product to the right patient. Tracking of all transport and storage temperatures also ensures that the blood bags are stored safely. > Savings on rare products: Complete information of a blood bag’s identity, temperature history and movements traceability allows better use of a rare resource. Remaining blood packs do not need to be thrown away as the RFID tag allows to perfectly trace their status. > Optimal operational efficiency: The system allows not only querying of remote stocks but also real-time visibility of supplies thereby streamlining distribution and reduction costs. The RFID system has been patented in the US, the EU and in Japan. Dr Ralf Knels Director of the production department of the German Red Cross in Cottbus, Germany “ If I work with RFID tags, I do save a lot of time. The employees have their hands free; they only have to drive the Blood Bag pass the scanner. I also have the possibility to record on the tag if the Blood Bag has been stored in this refrigerator as well as the laps of time. Another advantage, precisely for the project of B Medical Systems is, that I exactly know where and in which refrigerator my erythrocyte concentrate is stored.” Your Advantage: Instant Return on Investment An all-inclusive solution with no initial investment: > No equipment costs > No service costs > No licence fees You only pay for the number of consumed RFID tags! How does it work? > Preparation: During the identification process in the preparation stage, a RFID chip which is incorporated into the product label is fixed onto the blood bag. The blood donation number, product code, ABO Rh group, expiry date and all needed information are automatically recorded in the chip’s memory. After qualification, the bag is available for distribution. > Distribution: When an order is received from a healthcare establishment, the distribution operator selects the bags and encodes each bag’s RFID chip with its destination. The blood donation number and product code registered on the chip are read automatically which allow the central information system to be interrogated and receive feedback to record specific data to each blood bag, deadline of return to blood establishment, destination and patient information. > Transport: A module is specifically designed to ensure temperature traceability during the various stages of transport. Its very low inertia, its accuracy to 1/10th of a degree and its radiofrequency data transfer mode fit all transfusion needs. The B Medical Systems transport container associated with a temperature module guarantees the perfect control of the Blood Cold Chain and its traceability.
