We respectfully invite you to participate in the International

Dear Heads of Schools and Province Delegates:
We respectfully invite you to participate in the International Colloquium on Jesuit Secondary Education
(ICJSE). Hosted by Boston College High School at the facilities of Boston College, the ICJSE will take place from
July 29, 2012 – August 2, 2012.
In the 464-year history of Jesuit secondary education, this gathering will represent the first time secondary
school leaders from around the world are called to convene at one place at one time. The ICJSE represents a
response to General Congregation 35’s call to “pay special attention to the global context” of serving Christ’s
mission in today’s world and is fully endorsed by Father General Adolfo Nicolas…
“I encourage all Jesuit secondary school networks to take advantage of this opportunity to advance the Society’s commitment to form leaders who can serve both the Church and the world.”
The Society of Jesus has long recognized the need to create and foster national and regional networks of Jesuit
schools that encourage collaboration between Jesuits and their lay partners. In many regions across the
globe, the Jesuit mission has already been strengthened by this spirit of collaboration. Further, because Jesuit
schools have always been dedicated to forming the next generation of leaders in our Church and in the world,
we all face the challenge to train all members of our school communities to think globally, work
collaboratively and exchange ideas, strategies and practices.
The ICJSE’s theme, “The World is our House,” invites us all to a new level and spirit of collaboration. ICJSE
plenary sessions, as determined by the International Commission on the Apostolate of Jesuit Education, are
Worldwide Communities, Mission, Technology, Identity and Global Partnerships and Collaboration. Plenary
sessions will be highlighted by a combination of keynote speakers, panel discussions, workshops and group
discussions. Each region will also be given time to meet as local communities to not only address regional
matters, but to also begin processing and reflecting upon the information presented and shared at the ICJSE.
For further information, and to preregister for the ICJSE, please visit www.icjse.org. You may also contact
Dan Carmody, the ICJSE Director at [email protected] with any questions.
We look forward to seeing you in Boston!
Sincerely,
Dr. Martin Dunn
