Please be sure to place all money sent to
school in an envelope marked with your
child’s name, the amount of the money
you are sending, and the purpose for the
funds.
Please check your child’s backpack and
folder daily for important information
and their Daily Commitment Chart.
Please make sure your child has an extra
set of clothes (shirt, pants, socks, and
underwear). Please make sure that your
child’s name is labeled inside all their
clothes. The weather is getting colder, so
please update your child’s extra clothes
replacing them with warmer clothing.
Thank you to all of the parents that were
able to come to Parent-Teacher
Conferences. If you were not able to make
it, I completely understand and you can
contact us to set up a meeting or a phone
conference at your convenience.

★ The first week focuses on choices they make
on their own.

Suggestions to do at HOME
❖ Practice identifying the letters of their
names
❖ Have your child draw illustrations and ask if
they will dictate words and sentences to
accompany them
❖ Have your child identify, find objects, and
draw pictures of things that have the
following shapes: circle, oval, square,
rectangle, triangle, and rhombus (diamond)
❖ Practice the Disengage the Stress Response
Strategies we have learned (S. T. A. R. , The
Balloon, The Drain, and The Pretzel, The
Eye Rest, Bunny Breathing)
❖ Encourage your child to write his/her first
name, capitalizing the first letter in the name
and writing the remaining letters in
lowercase
❖ Help your child use the correct pencil grip
❖ Read to your child every night
❖ Identify the author and the illustrator when
reading books to your child and the role of
each
❖ Ask your child questions after reading a book
(who, what, when, where, why, and how)
❖ Have your child answer questions you ask in
complete sentences
❖ Discuss with your child their commitment
each day and have them give you an example
of how they kept it. Our recent commitment
is “I commit to making thoughtful choices.”
