The first was that he was invited. He's there because he has "basic organizational ties" there. The second reason is that "there is injustice in Birmingham." The third reason was he "could not sit idly by in Atlanta and not be concerned about what happens there." These reasons are importent because this is why King went to Birmingham. He had a public statement response of concern and caution by the eight white religious leaders.
