Principal’s Report
Dear Parents
EASTER
We give thanks to you, Lord, for you have done marvellous things!
When we were walking in darkness you were there.
When we were kneeling in weakness you were there.
When we drew near feeling worthless you were there.
When we were needing forgiveness you were there.
When we were searching for your grace you were there.
We give thanks to you, Lord, for you have done marvellous things
We often think of Easter as the time for holidays, festivals and a time for giving chocolate Easter eggs.
But Easter means much more....
Holy Week leads us through the story of Jesus' last days in Jerusalem before his death. The Easter story
includes Holy Thursday (the Last supper leading to the Eucharist), Good Friday (the day on which Jesus
was crucified) and Easter Sunday (the day on which Jesus came back to life).
‘ TRUTH GIVES FREEDOM ’
‘The Scholar’
It is a sad story because Jesus was killed. But the story has a very happy ending, because Jesus came
back to life and visited his friends and followers once more. He went back up to Heaven to be with God,
his father. Through his resurrection, he brought us the promise of new life, both in Heaven and on
earth. Hs own prayer, “Thy Kingdom come, on earth as it is in Heaven” begins to be fulfilled on Easter
Sunday.
Let us try to focus, in some way, over this Easter weekend on the true meaning of the celebration as we
share our chocolate Easter eggs with friends and families.
Easter Long Weekend
School will be closed for Good Friday this week. Staff and students will return on Wednesday 30 March.
Year 6 students are reminded to bring their gear ready to depart for camp on Wednesday morning.
Parent Interviews Online Booking
As mentioned in last week’s newsletter, Parent interviews will take place over two separate sessions this
Semester:
Term 1, Week 10:
Pre-Primary, Year 3, Year 4 and Year 5
Term 2, Week 2:
Year 1, Year 2, Year 6
Kindy Teachers will advise parents directly of their Interview process.
To co-ordinate the interviews we have employed an online booking system to assist parents in securing
their preferred interview times. In order to allow teachers to meet with parents of all students, time
slots are limited to 15 minutes and we ask parents to be prompt so that delays do not occur. Longer
appointments may be made at a later date if required. The booking procedure is as follows:



If you wish to see your child’s teacher, you need to secure an appointment time using this online
system.
If you do not have access to the internet your local library may be able to help, or alternatively
you can contact the classroom teacher.
The booking system will be accessible to:
PP, Years 3, 4 and 5 Parents from 24 March through to 31 March
Year 1, 2 and 6 Parents from 24 March through to 28 April
In your web browser type in the school website www.ola.wa.edu.au and when the Home Page appears
click the link for 'Parent-Teacher-Interviews'.
NB: No interview requests will be accepted outside of these times.
Happy Easter!

Lost Property
Please take the opportunity to check the Lost Property box (outside Admin office). At the end of term, it
will be cleared. Uniform items will be laundered and then be sold via the Uniform Shop. Many
lunchboxes and drink bottles are in the Lost Property box on a daily basis, usually without names. If an
item is named, every effort is made to return it to your child.
ICAS Entries
Last call for these entries please. Please fill in the slip from previous newsletters (class teachers from Year
3-6 also have this and can forward to you) and send in your entries so I can complete the administration side
of this prior to the end of term. Year 6’s should have their entries in now (prior to camp), or send in to
school next week please.
Winter Uniform
With only two weeks left of Term One, it is probably time to check the Winter Uniform for your child. As always, there will be a
two week changeover time (weather can still be warm in late April and early May), but all students from Years 1-6 are expected to
be wearing Winter Uniform by Week 3 of Term 2.

Year 3G Class News
In Year 3, we are learning about different celebrations in Australia and around the world. On Monday March 21, it was Harmony
Day. Harmony day recognises that Australia is multicultural and celebrates our diversity. We are amazed that nearly half of all
people who live in Australia were born in another country! We think this is worth celebrating. Being a culturally diverse country
means that we are able to enjoy a variety of cuisines, traditions and we can learn about other people and other countries. We
learnt that this year’s Harmony Day message is Everyone Belongs. We decorated doves, which are a sign of peace and harmony.
Prayer for Easter
God our Father,
by raising Christ your Son
you conquered the power of death
and opened for us the way to eternal life.
Let our celebration today raise us up
and renew our lives by the Spirit that is within us.
Grant this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever.
Amen.
