Dear Partnering Parishioners,
Please Pray
Father Larry Kozak, a son of our parish, Parochial Vicar at Saint Anastasia Church, Newtown Square, and son of Kathy and Larry
Kozak, was hit by a car while he was walking for exercise on Friday evening, August 19. He is in Lankenau Hospital in stable
condition. He has had several surgeries to date. He faces a lengthy recovery. Please continue to keep Father Larry Kozak and his
family, especially his parents, Cathy and Larry in your prayers.
Father Devine informed me that he is thinking about leaving St. Charles Parish in mid-September. The reason he shared with me is
that he has been thinking about this move for some time. He misses his dear friend Father Slobogin and was thinking about rejoining
him at Saint Matthew Parish, Cottman Avenue, Philadelphia. Please keep Father Devine in your thoughts and prayers as he ponders
this decision.
Parish Finance Council Meetings
I met with both Parish Finance Councils this past week. I am grateful for the dedication and commitment of these men and women to
help advise me on these important financial matters so we can all be good stewards of God’s manifold blessings. Both parish finance
councils approved the work of my respective predecessors: the Annual Parish Financial Report of July 1, 2015 to June 30, 201; and,
the Budget for the 2016-2017 fiscal year—which will guide our spending this year.
A common theme that surfaced in both councils was to stress to all parishioners to go to Church every Sunday and Holy Day of
Obligation, to redouble their use of their Church Offering envelopes as their “thank you” back to God in sacrificial giving for all His
blessings; and to become more involved in the various ministries and good works of our faith communities. Both councils want us to
explore online or electronic giving.
The St. Charles Finance Council suggests that we evaluate the greater use of our parish facilities, especially the rectory and church
hall meeting rooms, and the possible sale of the Kelly House and the Parish Center (former Convent); try to increase use of the scrip
(gift card) program; and explore utilizing space behind the rectory for additional parking.
The Sacred Heart Finance Council is considering how to help families send their children to Parish Religious Education (by
establishing donors to assist needy families; sponsor a PREP Student Program to help defray costs); and by exploring estimates for
pointing the Church and making needed repairs to the chimney, bell tower, and ramp.
Both Parish Finance Councils will help me prepare a report that will be either send out in the Block Collection mailing and or printed
as a handout in the Bulletin in October.
I was happy to celebrate Holy Mass last Sunday at St. Hedwig’s and meet the wonderful spirit-filled people there. St. Hedwig’s is a
beautiful Church. If you have not seen it please make it a point to go for Mass on a Sunday at 9:15A.M. Be prepared there is no airconditioning. Maybe someone will hit the Lottery.
Thank you everyone for living your faith that it is experienced in your love and concern for one another, and in the joy you share
because you love the Lord!! Keep it up it is contagious!!
Blessings,
Monsignor George A. Majoros

Acts of the Apostles Bible Study
St. Charles Borromeo, Drexel Hill
If you’ve ever wondered what Acts is really about, how
the Early Church relates to our Church today or about your
role in the Kingdom of God, then join us for Acts: The Spread
of the Kingdom. Acts: The Spread of the Kingdom is a Bible
study which explores the story of the Early Church in light of
the Holy Spirit and demonstrates how this story is important
for all Disciples of Christ.
Enrich and deepen your faith. Learn how the Church accomplishes the monumental task of teaching, preaching, healing
and restoring outcasts with the Holy Spirit working with and
through Her, and how you are also called to participate in the
Kingdom of God.
The Acts of the Apostles provides us more than a history of
the First Christians - it is the story about the Early Church
with the Holy Spirit as the protagonist. Christ did not leave
His Apostles alone - He sent the Holy Spirit to guide, instruct
and equip them. Enrich and deepen your faith as you learn
how the Apostles continued Christ’s mission on earth through
the Power of the Holy Spirit.
Join us for Acts: The Spread of the Kingdom at St. Charles
Borromeo in Drexel Hill beginning September 7 at 7:00 PM
and continuing every Wednesday. There is a possibility of
a group meeting on Thursday mornings at 9:30 beginning
on September 8. For more information or to register for the
study please contact Suzanne Judge at 610-626 4687 or
[email protected] .
