Barron’s AP Art History, 3rd Edition, by John Nici, M.A. ISBN#’978-1-4380-0493-8 (without CD) 3.) A smaller binder or folder to carry to class. 4.) Notebook or note paper (prepare to take a lot of notes in class!) Barron’s Assignment: DUE the first day of class! 1.) Read and familiarize yourself with the book by reviewing the Introduction. 2.) Read pgs. 69-76, Chapter 1 = Global Prehistory. Read and take notes on the ‘styles’, cultures, and locations of the different artworks; make flashcards on the vocabulary on page 75. 3.) Read pgs. 403-417, Chapter 29, Global Contemporary. Read and write down, for each of the 27 art pieces in this section: Questions you have about these very diverse, unique, and probably in some cases, odd pieces of art. What DON’T you understand? During the summer go and SEE some ‘Art/Architecture’ first hand. You may visit a castle if you go to Germany or go to a local Museum such as the Morse Museum of Art in Winter Park, or any Museum/Gallery/Landmark in any State/Country you may travel to. Take a photograph of yourself (if allowed) with ONE PIECE OF ART or ONE BUILDING and write a 5-7 sentence paragraph about the art/architecture. Include: 1.) Name/Title of the piece of art or architecture 2.) Name(s) of the artist/architect who created the art or building 3.) The date the art piece or building was completed 4.)
