September, 2015 Annaka The city of Annaka is where Mt. Myogi, one of the Jomosanzan mountains, is situated. Along with Mt. Akagi and Mt. Haruna, the Jomosanzan are the three most well-known mountains in Gunma. It is also surrounded by such beautiful landscapes like the Joshin’etsu Highland National Park, Mt. Arafune, the Saku Highland Quasi-National Park, and the Usui River. Mt. Myogii is very rocky, and you can see that ↑ Usuiko or Lake Usui even from a distance. It’s also a scenic spot to view colored leaves in Myogiko or Lake Myogi ↓ the fall. At Myogiko or Lake Myogi, you can enjoy rowing a boat or fishing. Usuiko or Lake Usui reflects different colors of the leaves on its surface as seasons change. You can row a boat or fish here, too. Isobe Onsen The spa resort is famous for being the place where the map symbol denoting an Onsen was created. There is a monument for that. Because of its convenient location in terms of road traffic, Isobe Onsen attracts visitors throughout the year. Meguminoyu Day Onsen has a sunaburo, or sand bath facility. The usual large indoor and outdoor baths as well as the foot bath are also available. This facility was built in 1996 and is barrier-free, so it attracts many visitors both young and old.
