On the vocabulary test you will be expected to correctly spell each word and give the correct definition.
Write four synonyms for each vocabulary word on the lines provided and an antonym in the box below.

6. flounder _______To make clumsy movements while
trying to regain balance.
“When the sled started, he floundered in the soft snow
alongside the beaten trail.”
7. exertion _______Strenuous (hard) physical exercise
or effort.
“They swung out on the trail with remarkable lack of
exertion.”
8. comrade _______A close friend or companion.
“His comrades talked of how a dog could break its heart
through being denied the work that killed it.”

Create FIVE sentences (using this week’s vocabulary words) packed with alliteration.
Include the proper four line heading.
Re-copy the word and definition of each of the five words.
Each sentence must have at least five alliterations!
The sentence must use the vocabulary word correctly. (In other words the sentences MUST
make sense!)
