JAN HANDEL 37 Ocean Street Woollahra, Sydney, NSW 2025 (02) 9328 0922 mcontemp.com JAN HANDE JAN HANDEL ARTISTS STATEMENT Having had a long-standing relationship with the landscape as subject, my work has moved into abstraction as a less restricting means of describing that which we feel but can’t see. For me there is freedom in separating and slipping from the real world. Materials, process, the illusion of space, and the way in which these can be manipulated to trigger the memory of a place or experience form the basis of my practice. The quest to find a visual language that is up to the task is ongoing. 2015 Ascending (vortex) I,II,2015 Oil, wax and acrylic on Perspex diameter 50 cm diam $990 Ascending (vortex) II, 2015 Oil, wax and acrylic on Perspex 50 cm diameter $990 Ascending (vortex) III, 2015 Oil, wax and acrylic on Perspex $990 Ascending (vortex) IV, 2015 Oil, wax and acrylic on Perspex 50 cm diameter $990 Ascending (vortex) V, 2015 Oil, wax and acrylic on Perspex 50 cm diameter $990 Rising I, 2015 Oil, wax and acrylic on Perspex 20 cm diameter $550 Rising II, 2015 Oil, wax and acrylic on Perspex 20 cm diameter $550 Rising IV, 2015 Oil, wax and acrylic on Perspex 20 cm diameter $550 Rising V, 2015 Oil, wax and acrylic on Perspex 20 cm diameter $550 JAN HANDEL Born Armidale, N.S.W.
