Film ACC (.5 Credit)
Creative Writing (1 Credit)
Do you enjoy writing? Being creative? If
so, then this course is for you. In this
course you will have an opportunity to create a world of your own. Characters that
interest you! And develop the know how to
build upon the skills you already have to
create the next Hogwarts, District 9, or
who knows, the next great vampire love
story. (This course may be repeated
for credit)
Do you enjoy movies? How about analyzing them? Discussing them? Writing about them? Do you like The Godfather? Inception? Psycho? The Sixth
Sense? Then choose film class.
Theater Arts (.5 Credit)
Poetry (.5 Credit)
William Blake! Langston Hughes! Tupac
Shakur! Biggie! Def Poetry Jam! If you are
interested in studying poetry, writing poetry, learning how to construct a poem,
poetry slams, or rhyming as an art form,
come check out poetry. Remember, poetry isn’t all “roses are red violet are blue,”
it’s also “Life’s a game, but it’s not fair/I
break the rules so I don’t care/So I keep
doin’ my own thing, walkin’ tall against
the rain.”
Improv! Learning about the theater!
Reading famous plays! If this sounds
interesting, then Theater Arts is for
you! Come play games as featured in
Who’s Line is it Anyway and develop
scenes both original and developed.
SAT Prep (.5 Credit)
Are you a Junior or Senior? Are you
planning on taking the SAT this year?
If so, this course is for you! Through
intensive and close reading and writing
you will become familiar with the SAT
test, as well as learn skills and test
taking strategies designed to help you
achieve the best score possible.
Mythology (1.0 Credit)
From tragic heroes to tricksters, love to
fear, and of course the omniscient gods
and goddesses, there is something for
everyone in Mythology. Are you ready
for this epic expedition?
This course is designed to enhance your
understanding of mythology and its
continuing influence on our modern
world. You will study mythology from
various cultures, including GrecoRoman, Norse, and the Aboriginals.
Journalism 1 & 2 (1 Credit each)
Interested in having your finger on the pulse
of the Fitch community? Want to interview
interesting people, try your hand at photography or learn how to run a popular Web
site? Journalism is for you! Come and explore
the world of news that surrounds us on a daily basis. You will learn about all aspects of
the media while producing your own stories
that will range from hard-hitting investigative
stories to opinion pieces on topics of your
choice to sharing your favorite recipes. Once
you have completed your first year of Journalism, you then have the option of taking
Advanced Journalism, in which you will become an editor of fitchfalconpress.com. Take

Horror Stories (.5 Credit)
Vampires, werewolves, ghosts, and zombies, of course! Come read and write
about post-apocalyptic walking dead, mad
scientists and their creations, and zones
outside our realm of reality. You will also
enjoy viewing both modern and classic
horror movies. As a matter of fact, that
small movement in your peripheral vision
as you read this – what is it? Take this
class and you might just find out!
Oral Communication (1 Credit)
Afraid to speak in public? In front of
large crowds? If so, then you REALLY
need to take Oral Communication. This
class will help you overcome your public
speaking fears through learning how to
construct and present information in a
professional manner, while also giving
you the skills necessary to speak coherently and confidently. Analyze media and
its effect on society. (Students successfully completing this CCP course will
earn 3 college credits from Three Rivers Community College)

Children’s Literature (.5 Credit)
We have a great opportunity to positively
impact the lives of young children through
literature. We will explore the benefits of
reading to children and experience firsthand knowledge by visiting early childhood
classes (if class is later in the school day).
Sharing books with young children will develop and enhance our interaction with
them. We will evaluate various aspects of
children's literature including poetry and
illustration. Identifying universal themes,
the use of simple rhetorical devices, and
explaining the effects on the written works
are also part of the course.
African-American Literature (1
credit)
Come and explore the diversity that is
African-American Literature! Try something different in your Senior year! This
class is a college-prep level Senior
class and can count as your Senior English credit. Beyond the literature we will
complete a College Essay in class, complete vocabulary, and tackle all the traditional requirements of a Senior college prep English class while reading
unique and diverse literature!
Adolescent Literature (.5 Credit)
This course surveys literature for middle
and high school-aged children (aged 11 to
18). We will explore strategies for finding
and evaluating new and classic books,
learning about authors, and using adolescent literature to ignite a lifelong love of
reading. Students will write one short paper, participate in a group project, and create a focused bibliography of six books on
the topic of their choice.
