Product overview
The 8CD reader is a highly configurable, secure Mifare®
DESFire technology reader. With sector reading capabilities, it
is suitable for multi-applications. This flexible reader is actually
many readers inside one - it can be upgraded into another
technology or into another security level later on. You don’t
even need to uninstall the reader for configuration. All
configurations from technolgy migrations to security key and bit
length changes can be made only by exposing it to a secure,
authorized configuration card. You can create configuration
cards and transponders by a user-friendly DESCoder tool. This
powerful reader is convenient and easy to deploy since it it
supports the most common Mifare® transponders. Connect it to
your existing Mifare® system and it will flawlessly read the
Mifare® cards you already have deployed.

Communication
The readers are suitable for most applications and offer a direct
connection to wiegand compatbilty and OSDP compatible
control panels and door controllers. Good performance and
robustness ensure optimal functionality even in harsh
environments. The reader is available in versions with pigtail &
terminalstrip.

Design
The unique design of the housing guarantees that the readers
can be used in the most demanding surroundings. Readers can
be installed directly on to a metal surface without any insulation.
Constructions of the partnumbers
The partnumbers are constructed in a such way that Pin/keypad
versions can be distinguished easily. The same applies for the
pigtail and terminal strip version, as well as the standard
wiegand and OSDP versions. ID8CD stands for the standard
version. I8CDP stands for the Pin/keypad version.
The extension of the partnumber consist of 3 characters. (W)
stands for Wiegand, (O) stands for OSDP interface. (S) stands
for standard version, (Q) stands for Quattro (square) version.
(P) stands for Pigtail, (T) stands for the Terminal strip.
