It’s with great pleasure that we welcome and invite you to the University of
Nebraska–Lincoln 2015 Homecoming! This year, Homecoming will be on the
thirdweekofSeptember.Whenselectingthethemefor2015wewantedtohave
something that allowed participants to show their spirit throughout the
HomecomingCompetitionaswellassomethingthatwouldencouragepeopleto
bemoreconscienceofthematerialsthatareused.Withthatinmind,the2015
Homecomingthemeis:“HeroicHuskersHomecoming”
This Participation Packet contains information about all the events planned for
Homecoming. Important dates, registration forms, guidelines and rules can be
found for each event. Please read over all the information carefully as several
thingshavechangedfromyearspast.Weareworkinghardtomakethisyear’s
Homecoming exciting for University of Nebraska students, alumni and fans.
Homecoming Week is a longstanding tradition at the University that many
alumni declare as their most memorable experience at Nebraska. The ASUN
Homecoming Steering Committee is excited to work with you to continue the

ToqualifyforanyoftheHomecomingevents,yourorganizationmustcompletealltherequiredforms
foreachevent.OnlyofficiallyRecognizedStudentOrganizations,GreekChapters,andResidenceHalls

FIRESAFETYRULES

ThefollowingruleshavebeendictatedbytheLincolnFireMarshallandmustbestrictlyabidedby,if
thereisanynoncompliancewiththeserulestheguiltypartywillbeforcedtodismantletheirlawn
displayandrebuilditinaccordancetotherulesstated.
1.
Displaysmustallownormalaccesstoyourlivingunit’sentrances/exits.
2.
Displaysmustnotblockanyentryorexitsidewalksandwalkways.
3.

Displaysmaynotbeanchoredtolivingunits.
YoumusthaveafireextinguishernearthedisplayareaatALLtimes.
Jacobson Fire Equipment will provide each living unit hosting a homecoming
lawndisplaywithafireextinguishertohaveonhandwhilethedisplayisbeing
constructed. It is the responsibility of each group to make sure that the fire
extinguisher is kept in close proximity to the display area. Jacobson Fire
Equipment is providing fire extinguishers free of charge providing they are
returned(fullycharged)onMonday,September28th.Therewillbea$10feefor
anyfireextinguishersthatneedtoberechargedanda$45feeforlostorstolen
fireextinguishers.
5.
A sketch and loose plan of the overall design must be submitted at the
September2ndHomecoming2015meeting.Atthistime,RickCampos,Lincoln
Fire Inspector, will review each sketch to assure compliance with the above
statedregulations.
6.Anyextensioncordsusedmustbe3prongedorgroundedextensioncords.
CorporateSponsorship: Corporate sponsorship of displays is allowed if a sign is
prominentlydisplayedatthesite.
JUDGING
AmemberrepresentingyourentireGreekGroupmustbepresentatthetimeofjudging,from
12:00 PM to 1:00 PM on Friday September 25th to answer questions from the judges. A
maximumof2peopleareallowedtorepresentyourgroupatthejudging.
NeithertheASUNHomecomingSteeringCommittee,ASUN,norUNLareresponsiblefor
injuries, damages, or other destruction that results from the planning, construction,
development, or displaying of Lawn Displays. By participating in the Lawn Display
event,youagreetoholdUNLandallaffiliatedentitiesharmlessandfurthermoreagree
totheabove.

Entry is open to any NU Residence Hall, Greek Group, or registered student organization. One
entryperparticipatingteam.
EntryformsmustbesubmittedbyTuesday,September15that4:00PMintheASUNOffice.
TheDancecontestwillbedoneusingCD’sprovidedbythegroupsparticipating.CD’smustonly
containtheonetrackofmusicthatwillbeusedfortheperformance;themusicmanageratthe
performancewillnotselectyourtrackfromalist.OnlyONETRACKwillbeallowed.CD’sareto
bebroughttoMondayafternoonrehearsalattheColiseumforsoundcheck.
Any items used during the performance must be taken on and off stage by group members.
Stageareamustbecleanuponyourgroupsexitfromstage.Noliquidsorglittermaybeused.
Amaximumof12membersareallowedtorepresentyourgrouponstage.
The Coliseum will be open on Sunday, September 21st at a later established time for a
MANDATORY rehearsal. Total time for performance must be less then 2 minutes. Failure to
remaininallottedtimewillresultinperformancepointdetections.FAILURETOREHEARSEAT
SCHEDULEDTIMEWILLRESULTINORGANIZATIONBEINGDISQUALIFIED.
AllgroupmemberscompetingMUSTbepresentattheColiseumat7:00PM.Any/allgroupsthat
reportafter7:00PMwillnotbeallowedtoperform.
Competing members must be present for the whole performance and remain in their reserved
seating.
In accordance with the General Overall Rules for Homecoming 2015, performances containing
any material or theme considered disrespectful, inappropriate, or in poor taste, are subject to
disqualification.
