The Dutch push hoe
CARE
In spring or after the initial plantining grab your Dutch push hoe and work
inbetween and around every plant. You will need to do this every 14 to 20 days.
You should be able to hoe 1000 sq feet in roughly 100 minutes. Hoeing at 14 -to
20-day intervals should contiue in the second season. In year three- you will have
moved from the nurthuring state to the estalishment stage. The perennials will fill in,
creating a closed plant community by mid June. This tightly knit community will aid
you in reducing the weed population, eliminating sunlight from reaching open soil
and thus greatly inhibiting weed seed germination.
WATERING
The garden should receive a total of 5 inches of water from June to August. If not
the difference should be made up by one or several one inch irrigation applications.
