INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT TO PLAYA BONITA:
Upon arrival, you’ll be met by your driver/guide, who will transfer you to the 5-star
Westin Playa Bonita, a beautiful beachfront oasis with three infinity pools and a milelong golden sand beach on the Pacific Ocean. The rest of your day is at leisure to
enjoy the amenities of this full-service resort.

MIRAFLORES AND BIOMUSEO:
After breakfast, you will visit the Miraflores Locks of the Panama Canal and observe
their operation with a guide/historian. Then you’ll visit the Biomuseo—the only Frank
Gehry-designed building in Latin America—to learn the story of how the Isthmus of
Panama rose from the sea, uniting two continents while separating a vast ocean into
two parts, and changing the biodiversity of the planet. Afterwards, have lunch at The
Causeway—a group of three islands linked to the mainland by the Canal
breakwater. You have a choice of many excellent restaurants, plus time for
shopping before returning to your hotel. Rest of the day at leisure.

PANAMA HISTORIC TOUR AND LA RANA DORADA:
Morning at leisure. Depart for a visit to Panama Vieja, the remnants of the oldest
Spanish settlement on the Pacific. Panama City prospered by being the transit point
for Spanish silver mined in Peru, which passed through Panama on its way to
Spain. Then visit Casco Antiguo, the oldest portion of the modern city, founded in
1673 after the destruction of Panama Vieja. Casco Antiguo is a UNESCO World
Heritage Site, full of Colonial buildings and historic monuments. After a leisurely
walk through this charming area you’ll visit La Rana Dorada (the Golden Frog)
Brewery to learn about their microbrewery process and taste their delicious
products! Overnight at the Westin Playa Bonita.

PLAYA BONITA TO AZUERO PENINSULA:
After breakfast, you’ll check out of the hotel and drive across the Bridge of the
Americas spanning the Canal to the Azuero Peninsula, the cultural heart of
Panama. Today you will visit Pesé in the heart of Herrera Province and home of
Hacienda San Isidro, where the famous Ron Abuelo and Seco Herrera are
produced. On traditional oxcarts you will continue to the distillery at Hacienda San
Isidro. At the distillery you will learn about the different steps necessary to produce
Rum and Seco from Sugarcane. You will then continue to the bodega where the
Rum is being aged in barrels in two different processes.
After lunch, enjoy rum tasting of the Ron Abuelos aged 5, 7, 12, and 30 years along
with an open bar featuring Rum and Seco based cocktails will round off this
Authentic Panamanian Rum Tour. Following lunch, you are driven to your next
overnight stop, the Cubita Boutique Resort in Chitre.

THE BEST OF AZUERO:
In the morning, discover the manufacturing processes of the traditional products to
the Herrera Province: sugarcane juice and honey, salt, clay and bread. After a
traditional lunch (included), learn why many consider Azuero “the cultural heart of
Panama.” We will see in detail the making of the handcrafted pollera, one of the
most beautiful costumes in the world, as we visit an elderly woman who has
dedicated her life ty producing this typical dress of Panamanian women. We will also
visit small studios of local artisans who produce the colorful devil’s masks, the
drums used in local music, and the gold ornaments that are part of traditional
culture. In the late afternoon, you’ll transfer to your next overnight stop, the Pedasito
Hotel in Pedasi.

ISLA IGUANA:
Isla Iguana is a wildlife refuge approximately five miles from Pedasi, off the coast of
the Azuero Peninsula. It features beautiful white sand beaches, crystal-clear waters,
and fantastic coral reefs. It is home to multiple species of birds, including the large
frigate bird, which nests on this island. It is also home to many other animal species.
You will take an open fiberglass boat known as a panga, which departs from Playa
El Arenal. Once on the island, ocean lovers can enjoy snorkeling or Scuba diving to
see a wide variety of marine life. There are hiking trails on the island for those
interested in bird watching or getting close to the iguanas that inhabit the island.

PEDASI TO PANAMA CITY:
After breakfast at your hotel, you’ll check out and be transferred by car back to
Panama City—approximately a four-hour drive—where you will overnight at the
Crown Plaza Hotel, located in the heart of the city, close to restaurants and
shopping. Rest of the day at leisure.

DEPART PANAMA CITY:
After breakfast, you will have a private ground transfer back to Panama City
International Airport, where you’ll proceed to your next Avanti adventure!
