Directions for Biome Flip Book:
Label the page edges as in the picture above.
Title Page (top section): Include the name of your biome, your name, and a picture of your biome. You may
draw
and color this picture yourself or paste a picture you find on the computer. Make sure it is in color.
Description: Write a paragraph that describes your biome. Describe where it is located in the world and
specifically in the USA. Describe the climate and seasons of your biome. This should be written in a
paragraph
that has five to eight sentences. Be detailed so the reader knows exactly where you can find your biome
and how
it would feel to be there.
Plants: Describe in a paragraph what plants live in your biome (5+sentences). Describe the layers of your
biome if it has them. (i.e. canopy, floor) What lives on the layers? Include a drawing or clipart of a plant or
plants from
your biome.
Animal: Write a paragraph describing what animals live in your biome (5+ sentences). What do the species
need that the biome provides? Please describe all species of animals including mammals, insects, birds,
amphibians, reptiles, and fish. Include a drawing or clipart of an animal or animals from your biome.
Location/Interesting Facts: Color on the world map where your biome is using one color. Look for biome
map on Mrs. Keller’s web page to locate your biome. After coloring, glue the map neatly into the top of
the flip book page. On the bottom of this page, write a paragraph or two telling fascinating things you
learned about your biome. What intrigued you about this biome? *** On this page also list the websites
or books you used in your research.
___________________ Fill in with your biome: On the biggest page of the flip book, draw and color a
detailed
picture of your biome. Include the plants and animal that live there. Fill the entire page with color. (This
includes
the top and bottom of the flap page). This should be a detailed picture that shows a lot of effort. NO CLIP
ART!
As with all other projects, be creative! Take your time and show lots of effort. Use color, special lettering,
add your own personal touches and make this project something you are proud of! You must use cursive or
the computer to word process the text.
Final Due Date:
Monitoring of Project:
I will be setting goals and providing feedback weekly with students to help them stay organized and
pace their work. I will have students write goals and due dates in the planner. If you would help at home
by checking in on progress each week, it will increase your student’s chance of success.
