Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet Directions: 1. Make double-sided copies of the first two pages in this file. You’ll need one per student. 2. Make single-sided copies of page 4. Again, one per student. 3. Be sure you also have scissors and glue sticks available for students to use. 4. After reading and discussing the play, break the students into teams of two or three. Have them sit together. 5. Distribute one double-sided sheet and one sheet of the pictures to each student. The students then need to clip out the pictures and place them in the correct order (see the KEY on page 5). For fun, I don’t allow students to use their plays for this part of the activity. They need to try to sort from memory. When student teams think they have the correct order, I come around the room and spot check them. Once given the “green-light,” students then glue their pictures in place. Warn students that they should not glue until they’ve been approved. 6. After the students have completed the first side, have them flip the page to Side 2 and follow the directions. For this part, they will use their copies of the play, of course. This activity, which usually takes a full 45 minutes (slower students will likely need to finish the Side 2 part as homework), is an excellent review activity. Later, the students can cut the grid apart and they’ll have handy flashcards to use for quiz/test preparation. Thanks for downloading this activity. Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet – Side 2 After you’ve correctly sorted and glued the images to the front side, fill in this side of the grid with one detail and one relevant quote from that scene of the play.
