2015 Speakers and Topics ~ Cincinnati, OH
JACK ADAMS, CFSP has over 40 years of funeral service experience, embalming in excess of 20,000
bodies. In addition to representing The Dodge Company in Northern Illinois, he is a member of The Dodge
Company embalming research staff, author of many embalming articles that appear in The Dodge
Magazine, an Embalming Lab Instructor at Worsham College, and a very popular technical presenter.
Treating Edema & Emaciation: Edematous and emaciated bodies have been an ongoing issue for
embalmers with people living longer with the help of medicine and machine. Jack will show you some of the ways he
treats edematous or emaciated bodies. It’s not as difficult as it may appear!
Challenges of the Organ & Tissue Donor Case: As a follow-up to John Krenn’s program on tissue recovery, Jack will
help you prepare for what’s to come when you receive your next organ or tissue donor case.
JOHN KRENN has been an Illinois licensed funeral director and embalmer for almost 40 years. He has been
with Gift of Hope Organ & Tissue Donation since 1994 and is their Supervisor of Tissue Recovery and PeriOperative Services and Material Management, as well as their Funeral Service Liaison.
Gift of Hope and Tissue Recovery: John will delve into the world of donation and Gift of Hope’s relationship
with the funeral industry and their funeral-related programs. He’ll speak about how they find donors, the consent process
and the screening of a potential donor. He’ll discuss the surgical recovery of tissues, ie, full thickness skin, cardiectomy,
bone and soft tissues, and corneas which will lead us into Jack’s program on the Challenges of the Organ & Tissue Donor
Case.
Allograft Usage: In this program, John will discuss the parts of organ and tissue donation that funeral service rarely sees.
He’ll discuss the processing of musculo-skeletal and cardio-vascular tissues and how those tissues are converted into more
useable items. Did you know one donor can help up to 100 people? Join us to find out how.
