LEADER INFORMATION
Who can be a leader?
Each Pack must provide one adult Walking Leader each day for every five youth. Den Chiefs and Den Aides
do not count toward this ratio. Keep in mind that some Cub and Webelos/AOL activities will be separated.
Each Tiger Cub (boys entering first grade) must be accompanied by an Adult Partner.
Walking Leaders or Camp Staff attending all five days will pay no fee and will receive a free T-shirt. All other
Walking Leaders must purchase a T-shirt for their day(s) at camp.
Boy Scouts and Venturers may qualify to be Den Chiefs, Den Aides or Camp Staff. Any Boy Scout may serve
as a Den Chief for the den he serves outside of camp. A Boy Scout or Venturer 14 or older may volunteer to
serve on camp staff. All youth must seek approval of the Camp Director. All participants must register with
the BSA.
Walking Leader duties
• Responsibility for campers: All youth are the responsibility of the assigned Walking Leader. Ensure
the boys follow the Cub Scout Promise and the Law of the Pack. Ensure that all youth check in and out
with a responsible adult. Campers must use the buddy system and adhere to camp rules.
• Scout spirit: The camp T-shirt is the official uniform for the camp, and all participants must wear it at
all times for camp spirit as well as security reasons. Actively participate in all activities and ensure each
boy has a quality camp experience. Cooperate with the staff to pep up the campers and enjoy the
program!
• Information: The Walking Leaders are the communicators between the camp staff and the campers
and parents. They will need to coordinate schedules, transportation, check-in, check-out and walking
around camp.
• Check-in: Hand in the attendance form at the beginning of each day with names of the boys and adults
present checked. Please let us know if a boy is absent due to illness.
• Set the example: No smoking around at camp. Please park in the designated lots (Yes, we keep large
fields open and park on the other side of the ditch. We will be launching rockets again and don’t want
people driving where the campers are walking). No personal firearms, fireworks, alcohol or controlled
substances are allowed at the camp. If a problem occurs, contact a staff member to help.
Walking Leader Orientation
All walking leaders are asked to attend one orientation. Orientation will be offered at 10 AM Saturday, June 4
and at 4 PM Sunday, June 5
