The only youth participants are Tiger Cubs, Cub Scouts, and Webelos/AOL Scouts. Registered Boy Scouts and Venturers may attend as Den Chiefs, Den Aides, or Camp Staff. No unregistered siblings may attend the camp as participants. All parents and registered adult leaders can attend but are expected to take an active role in leading the camp experience as Walking Leaders or Camp Staff. Schedule The daily schedule is listed on the front cover of this packet. Daily program begins promptly at 4:00 P.M. Plan to arrive early enough to check-in and walk to the program areas. Programs will run until 8:30 P.M. Campers are encouraged to stay until the closing ceremony. Participants should be out of camp by 8:45 P.M. Activities Activities planned include: Ø BB Shooting Ø Nature Activities Ø Water Slide Ø Friday Campfire Program/Family Night Ø Ø Ø Ø Crafts STEM Program Sports and Games Rockets Each activity will be age-specific and may offer opportunities for rank advancement, arrow points, activity badges, and belt loops. Remember the main goal is to have fun in the great outdoors! “A game with a purpose” Meals All participants will be responsible for providing their own meal each day. Plan to provide your own coolers for perishable food and containers to protect food from insects and animals. Keep your meals healthy and portable. Equipment Each youth and adult should have or wear the following: o Camp T-shirt (this is the official uniform worn at all times) o Walking shoes and socks (no sandals, mesh, or open-toed shoes) o Hat with brim or bill (official Scout hats encouraged) o Full water bottle o Portable meal o Sunscreen o Insect repellant o 1 Emptied and Cleaned Milk Gallon -Bring 1st night only o 2 Emptied and Cleaned Egg Crates – Bring 1st night only o Money (optional, we will have a trading post) PARENT INFORMATION SHEET What do you need to do now? 1. 2. 3. 4. Sit down with your Scout and review the following information. Important- Share this information with your Scout is sure he understands this information. All Scouts should bring a sack meal, Monday through Thursday. Meals must be packed in sacks. The Scout’s name should be printed on sack. Soda pop is not allowed in camp. Water will be available at all stations throughout the day. Each Scout will need to bring a water bottle or cup. Everyone is encouraged to drink lots of water to prevent dehydration. Proper protective footwear must be worn at all times. Proper footwear covers and protects the entire foot. Aqua socks and/or sandals are not acceptable. If your Scout comes to camp without proper footwear, he will be required to sit in the camp office until a parent brings proper shoes or takes him home. Shoes requirement also applies to adults. The camp uniform will consist of the official Day Camp T shirt, long or short pants, proper shoes, and a cap or broad brimmed hat. The hat is recommended for protection from the sun. No matches, No knifes (even for Scouts who earned Whittling Chip). No swearing, obscene or abusive language. No throwing, except as part of an adult led game. If a boy is to be released during the day to someone other than a parent, written permission and instruction must be presented to the Camp Director in advance. Our Friday program will be an abbreviated version of the regular camp week. There will less time allocated for each activity. The regular camp program will end at 6:45 p.m. and be followed by a closing campfire. Your Pack should have a Day Camp Coordinator who can answer your questions. Each Pack must provide one adult Walking Leader each day for every five youth. Den Chiefs and Den Aides do not count toward this ratio. Keep in mind that some Cub and Webelos/AOL activities will be separated. Each Tiger Cub (boys entering first grade) must be accompanied by an Adult Partner. Walking Leaders or Camp Staff attending all five days will pay no fee and will receive a free T-shirt. All other Walking Leaders must purchase a T-shirt for their day(s) at camp. Boy Scouts and Venturers may qualify to be Den Chiefs, Den Aides or Camp Staff. Any Boy Scout may serve as a Den Chief for the den he serves outside of camp. A Boy Scout or Venturer 14 or older may volunteer to serve on camp staff. All youth must seek approval of the Camp Director. All participants must register with the BSA. Walking Leader duties • Responsibility for campers: All youth are the responsibility of the assigned Walking Leader. Ensure the boys follow the Cub Scout Promise and the Law of the Pack. Ensure that all youth check in and out with a responsible adult. Campers must use the buddy system and adhere to camp rules. • Scout spirit: The camp T-shirt is the official uniform for the camp, and all participants must wear it at all times for camp spirit as well as security reasons. Actively participate in all activities and ensure each boy has a quality camp experience. Cooperate with the staff to pep up the campers and enjoy the program! • Information: The Walking Leaders are the communicators between the camp staff and the campers and parents. They will need to coordinate schedules, transportation, check-in, check-out and walking around camp. • Check-in: Hand in the attendance form at the beginning of each day with names of the boys and adults present checked. Please let us know if a boy is absent due to illness. • Set the example: No smoking around at camp. Please park in the designated lots (Yes, we keep large fields open and park on the other side of the ditch. We will be launching rockets again and don’t want people driving where the campers are walking). No personal firearms, fireworks, alcohol or controlled substances are allowed at the camp. If a problem occurs, contact a staff member to help. Walking Leader Orientation All walking leaders are asked to attend one orientation. Orientation will be offered at 10 AM Saturday, June 4 and at 4 PM Sunday, June 5 HOW TO REGISTER Included in this packet are two forms: 1. Pack Summary 2. Individual registration Have each participant, youth and adult; complete an individual registration and a personal health and medical form that can be found online. Then, one leader from the Pack consolidates all the participants’ forms onto the pack summary sheet. Also, complete any campership applications. Then, complete registration on Tentaroo from the Last Frontier Council or Eagle District website http://www.scoutingrocks.tv/?districts/eagledistrict/calendar. The requested date for registration is by May 20th, so the camp staff can order the appropriate number of Tshirts, patches, and program supplies (Rockets!). You may register later, but we can’t guarantee your T-shirt size, a patch (or the right program supplies), or crafts/rockets. After May 1th, the registration increases to $65 per youth from the regular $60 to cover the expense of last-minute provisions. Extra shirts are $10 each up to XL then $12.
