HEROES

Information about learning in Year 3
The Home/School Partnership Curriculum Newsletter
Spring Term 4 2016
We had a fantastic start to the new term by kicking off our new learning theme ‘Heroes’ by taking
part in a Greek workshop for our Sensational Start. We had great fun spending the day dressed as
Greeks and finding out what life used to be like in ancient Greece. We all enjoyed re-enacting famous Greek myths such as Theseus and the Minotaur and were amazed by seeing Greek props
such as helmets, swords. We even had the chance to try some of them on!
HEROES
This term We will be learning about ‘Heroes’ from history.
We will be finding out about famous Greek heroes, Gods
and Goddesses. We will learn about the Olympics, including
where it first originated, and then compare it to the modern
Olympics today. As part of our learning about ancient
Greece, we will read a variety of myths and legends in
English and write our very own myth.
Our sensational start raised lots of questions about life in
ancient Greece and we are looking forward to developing
our historical enquiry skills.
