While attending outreach events, our staff members discuss our public discounted spay/neuter program (SNAP), explain our animal surrender process, encourage those in need to access free cat and dog food through our Pet Food Pantry, distribute volunteer applications, provide information on how to best care for your pets, and much more.” The following events are scheduled: Saturday, March 4: Second Chance will be at the Moose Family Center in Bennington (916 Main Street) from 12:00 – 2:00 p.m. This is an informational presentation about the shelter’s public spay/neuter program for cats and how this surgery benefits your feline’s health and combats the issue of cat overpopulation in our community. Refreshments will be provided and free dog and cat food from our Pet Food Pantry will be available. One lucky attendee will also win a FREE cat spay/neuter surgery through our SNAP program! Saturday, March 11: Second Chance has been invited by Orvis to participate in their We Love Dogs adoption event at Orvis’s Flagship and Outlet Stores in Manchester from 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. The shelter will have dogs available for adoption (we encourage you to submit an adoption application in advance to be pre-approved), a raffle for an Orvis dog bed valued at over $200, and lots of information about our community programs and services. Saturday, March 18: Now is time to register your dogs for the year … but does Fido need a rabies vaccination? Come to the East Arlington Firehouse (East Arlington Road) from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. to have your dog or cat vaccinated for $12 per animal. Then immediately visit the town clerks from Arlington, Sunderland, and Sandgate to register your pet right at the Firehouse! Dr. Raymond Koch will administer the vaccines, and Second Chance will complete the rabies certificates. The shelter will also bring along some free cat and dog food from our Pet Food Pantry.
