EUROPEAN OWN PLACE
DUNAHARASZTI – FERLACH – II - PIRAN
My favourite place in the world is where I can feel happy. It can be
anywhere but the most important thing for me is that you have the
important people around you. You have to cope with the
environment and the other factors as well. Nevertheless, Finland is
the best place for me to live in.
Niina Sassi, Finland
The most important place in the whole wide world is where your
closest friends are. You cannot survive there if you are just by
yourself. Every place looks better if you share it with someone else.
Johanna Kantola, Finland
Nature in Finland is beautiful, clean and fresh. I like being in nature
because it is so peaceful there and you get the feeling that you
don’t have to hurry anywhere. You can just walk, look around and
listen to sounds of nature, like birds singing. The most beautiful
moments are when the sun is going down and when you can see
many colours in the sky. I am happy that we have four different
seasons and each of these is beautiful in their own way.
Anette Kaikkonen, Finland
My favourite place is the Wörthersee. It is the largest lake of
Carinthia. The Wörthersee is 16.3 km long and 1.7 km wide. I
like it because I can go swimming there in summer and skating
in winter. There are also some different teenager-camps around
this lake. It is a really nice place and I like it very much. Best of
all: it is not far away from my home.
Sabine Esterle, Austria
My favourite place is a mountain close to the city of Ferlach
where I live. It is called “Matzen”. It is 1700 metres high and you
get a fantastic view of the valley below from the top of it.
It takes me two and a half hours to get to the top of the
mountain with two little breaks. When I reach the top I always
feel very proud and happy. Then I sit down to take a rest and
have something to eat, and enjoy the beautiful view of the
valley, the river and our capital city Klagenfurt which can be
seen in the distance.
Fabian Grabner, Austria
The place we really love in Dunaharaszti is Baktay square. A
memorial bust of the famous orientalist can be found on the square.
We visit this place of tranquillity almost every day after school. It is
a perfect spot for talking about the happenings back at school. We
must mention that this is the centre of the town. This location is
surrounded by a variety of shops and offices.
In winter, when ice becomes the ruler of the nature and the Danube
freezes over numerous people go ice-skating on backwaters.
Winter smiles upon those who like sledging as we have a sledge hill
on Paradise Island.
In summer Paradise Island hides as much treasures as you can not
even imagine like rowing opportunities, picnic places, tennis courts
and restaurants. However, the most sparkling treasure is the
thermal spring which attracts hundreds of young couples in love. If
you make your way through the forest, you arrive at the river bank
where you can witness the most beautiful sunset in Dunaharaszti.
The welcoming inhabitants of Dunaharaszti are always happy to
share their beauties and natural & cultural richness with you: So,
what are you waiting for?

My favourite place in Hungary is Lake Balaton, which is the biggest
lake in central Europe and Hungary’s most popular holiday resort.
Hungarians and tourists from abroad think the same way as I do:
love it.
The lake is surrounded by many cities which have got numerous
famous sights, entertainment facilities and adorable beaches
packed with tourists every year, especially in summer.
Its popularity comes from the pleasant atmosphere, amazing
landscapes and the friendliness of the inhabitants.
Lake Balaton is dear to me because lots of precious memories are
connected to it, memories that date back to camps and holidays
with my friends and family. Whenever I go there I always have a
great time in a good company so as soon as summer comes, I start
planning and organizing and Lake Balaton is always in the focus of
these arrangements.
Maybe you want to know why? Well, come and see for yourself and
you’ll be caught for life!
Orsolya Szántó, Hungary
The place I chose is school. I chose it because I spend there so
much time in every week. Our school is comfortable and we have
good condition to study. Our school is not too big. Between lessons
we can play billiard, use Internet and talk with friends.
Leena Hirvonen, Finland
For me my own place isn’t just one place, it can be everywhere in
the world, only the company matters. It’s where people like me.
Valtteri Törmänen, Finland
My favourite place is the ice rink in Ferlach. This place is not so big,
but perfect for my friends and me. I love ice skating really very
much. In the holidays I often meet my friends to skate together. It’s
a perfect place for young people to learn ice skating. There are two
parts of it. In the first part you can only skate and in the second part
you can play ice-hockey. I think the tickets for this place are not too
expensive. If you go ice skating very often you can buy seasonal
card.
If you need a break you can buy drinks and something to eat there.
Best of all is just to enjoy the nature around.

Our very favourite place is near the River Danube. This place is
important for us because it is peaceful, quiet, beautiful and friendly.
There are lots of nice and cosy cottages and also there is a small
harbour. This place offers different sport facilities, for example:
fishing, swimming, and canoeing. There is also a tennis court where
we can play tennis. We usually spend our free time here with our
friends or parents and in summer we often come here and have
picnics. But in winter we can go sledging there, which is the best
activity with our best friends. There is a playground for the kids with
benches around for the carefully watching mothers who knit and
gossip in the morning or late afternoon. So on the banks of the
Danube everybody has fun.

The picture shows my favourite place. It is a little river near the
city of Ferlach. The water is very cold. People also go there to
have a barbecue. My family and our neigbours come here once
a year and have a party. Sometimes my friend and I go fishing
there. The absolute highlight is the waterfall which is horribly
cold. You can stand under the waterfall. It is a lot of fun, but you
cannot stay there very long.
My favourite place is called »Tscheppaschlucht« . This is a
gorge close to the city of Ferlach.
The natural wonder Tscheppaschlucht gorge with its falling
creeks is perfectly protected by fixed bridges and ladders and
can be hiked by everyone. The gorge is 1.2 km long and offers
natural spectacles like the »Tschaukofall«, a huge cascasade,
and the »Felsentor«, a natural passage looking like a gate
which is leading through the cliffs. Absolute highlight: The
»Teufelsbrücke« bridge. It is at the end of the hike.
The bridge is so spectacular that it has been named after the
devil.
Sometimes we go for an excursion with the school there.
The gorge is well-known, and it is a big tourist attraction. In the
summer it is full of tourists. Close by there are some nice inns
where you get real home-made products.
This place is really worth a visit!

Our favourite place in Piran is definitely the Tartini Square. When
we want to relax from everyday problems, we go to the square and
enjoy a hot cup of coffee and sunny weather. We watch nearby kids
and laugh to the talks of old Piranese women that gossip all day
long.
Lots of students, teachers and other people go there so you can run
into anyone you know and have a pleasant conversation. We like
the colourful houses around the square and throw pieces of bread
to the pigeons around us. In the summer we like to go to many
festivals and music events which take place here. All the public
buildings are around the square so we can be in the library and in
the cafeteria in no time. We don’t have to worry about our
transportation, because there is a bus there every fifteen minutes.
Adrian Rusiti and Klemen Klobas, Slovenia
My favourite place is a little pond near my place. In the summer
I meet my friends there. We have a lot of fun. We play together
or we just have a little rest. In the winter we go ice-skating.
There are young people but also older ones. I just like the
nature around me. It is something special for me.
Selina Ogris, Austria
Our yard is one of my favourite places. It’s not that big, but it’s
comfortable. There is calm and there I can be alone if I want to.
Our yard is fenced, because we used to have a dog but it died. Now
we have a cat and it likes also our yard. It likes to play there and
catch mice.
Suvi Aalto, Finland
My favourite place is a little pond in Ressnig near Ferlach. In
the summer holiday I always meet my friends there. There we
can go swimming, or we play volleyball or lie in the sun. There
is a little restaurant where we can eat some ice cream. It only
takes me ten minutes to get there by car.
