CHRISTMAS CAROLS
Tuesday next week will see the Rock Church host the first Alexandra Hills State School Community
Christmas Carols. This will be a fantastic community event with students performing a dazzling array
of Christmas carols for the community. There will be a giant digital LED sign (the largest in Australia!),
a lighting spectacular, a welcome speech from the Mayor Karen Williams, a sausage sizzle and
contributions from the Rock Church. A massive thank you to Judy and her team at the Rock Church
for organizing this fantastic community event. It should be a great night; I hope to see you and your
friends and family there!
KINDERGARTEN UPDATE
The Director at Real Estate has been advised by Megan Van Wanroy (Infrastructure Manager South
East Region) that Facilities will approve the Prep Building to be taken off our school count (as we have
sufficient and suitable space to run prep classes in our school buildings). I have had discussions with
the Early Childhood Director in our region and have submitted the plans. We are hoping to put out a
Call for Tender before Christmas, with a view of opening Term 2 of 2016. A very exciting initiative for
the school community of Alexandra Hills State School.
SCHOOL LEADERS
Today, all Year 5 students were given the selection criteria and nomination forms for the upcoming
Student Leader Elections. On Tuesday, students shortlisted for leadership positions will stand for
election. All successful applicants will be announced at next weeks Annual Alexandra Hills State
School Awards Ceremony.
YEAR 6 GRADUATION DINNER
Wednesday will see the Year 6 students and members of the Alexandra Hills State School Community
come together to celebrate the graduation of the Class of 2015. The event will be held at the
Redlands Sporting Club and promises to be a great night for the students and their parents/caregivers.
AWARDS CEREMONY
Thursday will see the school host the Annual Alexandra Hills State School Awards Ceremony. The
ceremony starts at 9:00am with all students in full school uniform. It is a great opportunity for the
school community to come together to celebrate academic excellence. Everyone is invited to attend.

A BIG congratulations to our

Uniform Sales:
From the beginning of next year the sale of Uniforms
will be handled by the P&C Association (from the
Tuckshop).
There will be no changes made to the cost of uniforms.
The Tuckshop will be open for uniform sales the
week prior to school starting back (Monday 18thFriday 22nd AND also MONDAY 25th January 2016)
from 8.30-11.00am.
In addition to this we now
have a school backpack for
sale “school proof” they are
high quality and durable and
