Welcome to our services today, especially if you are a visitor to St Hilda’s. Please join us for
refreshments after the 10 am service.
16th March
Theme: Spirit vs. Flesh
Readings: Mathew 8:20 & Isaiah 53:7
Hear us, Jesus Christ, when we ask
for help to recognize temptation,
for honesty to face it,
for strength to resist it and the humility to give
God the glory.
God, you know better than we
the temptations that will bring us down
grant that our love for you may protect us
from all foolish and corrupting desire. Amen
God’s People & God’s Reign –
St. Hilda’s Lenten Journey -2014
 Consider some of the following ways to
make the most of Lent - in addition to the
ones in the St Hilda’s Lent Journey
guide......
 Take a copy of the St Hilda’s Lent Journey
God’s people & Gods Reign – use it as
reflective guide
 With one or two others be aware of your
neighbours – Do you know them on first
name terms?
 Pray for your neighbours especially a particular neighbour or workmate who needs
some assistance.
 Consider ways to practically serve your
neighbour in small but genuine ways.
 How much time do you have to listen to a
neighbour? Workmates?, family member
who needs to talk?. Make time to listen!
 Abraham left the things that gave him
security to build greater trust in God –
What things could you leave behind in
Lent?
 Neighbours Day is Saturday 29 March –
consider inviting some neighbours over
for a coffee or even a BBQ.
 Walk around your locality with open
prayerful eyes – ask God to make you
aware of needs in you area – down your
street that you could meet.

Reign of God and the Faith Community.
Lent begins with Ash Wednesday on

use our gifts by taking part or initiating worship for times such as Ash
Wednesday, Palm Sunday—Jesus
entry into Jerusalem, Maunday
Thursday –celebration of the last
Supper, Good Friday— Commemorating Jesus death on the Cross and
Easter day—Celebrating Resurrection.
