Dear Friends,
Your belief and support in The Friends Program has enabled us to continue our mission of “Building
Relationships and Restoring Hope.”
Through our four programs and the more than 1,300 volunteers that make these programs what
they are, The Friends Program has continued to serve those from our community who are in great
need. The ongoing success of our programs relies on the donation of time and kindness from
these volunteers. We cannot thank our volunteers enough for their personal commitment to serving
others in their communities. Our ongoing efforts to recruit, train and match volunteers with the most
effective community service opportunities for each remains our primary goal.
Our ability to continue providing high quality services with well-trained volunteers would not be
possible without the generous financial contributions of so many. Those listed on the following
pages have contributed to The Friends Program between October 1, 2009 and September 30, 2010.
The Friends Program receives contributions in a variety of ways and appreciates the diversity of
giving, after all out of many – we are one.
Listed below are some of the ways that our contributors have chosen to financially support our work:
Cash/Check/Credit Card - This is the quickest and simplest form of contribution and has an
immediate impact.
Pledge - A pledge of any amount on any schedule can be made. We can help you set up a weekly,
monthly or quarterly giving program using your credit or debit card, payroll deduction or a pledge
reminder form.
Stocks and Bonds - There are a number of advantages to making your annual gift with appreciated
securities. In most cases, the full market value of the securities is deductible, while a capital gains tax
is eliminated. A direct electronic transfer is quick, easy and can be handled by your broker.
Bequests, Planned Gifts - Many donors have found that a future gift, one that is effected through
their will or trust, has enabled them to maximize their gift and at the same time, meet their financial,
tax and estate planning goals. Bequests and estate gifts are used to support important strategic
objectives as determined by the Board of Trustees, unless otherwise directed to a specific purpose by
the donor.
Matching Gifts - Many companies will match their employees’ charitable contributions. Ask your
employer if this is an option.
In-kind - Many of our programs can be enhanced with a donation of goods or services.

What’s Offered at The Friends Program
“Building Relationships... Restoring Hope”
The Friends Program is a non-profit, social service organization that “strengthens
communities by building relationships that empower people, encourage community
service, and restore faith in the human spirit.” Since 1975, the agency has achieved
this mission through providing services from four programs that include a one to
one youth mentoring program; an emergency shelter with case management for
homeless families; a program that recruits volunteers aged 55+ for a wide range of
community needs; and a intergenerational program that provides income assistance
to low-income older adults for their services to special needs and at-risk children.
