4. Effects of Water on Antacid Tablets

Problem: How will the surface area of antacid tablet be affected by water?
Hypothesis: (Write your hypothesis on the back of the lab sheet. Label it Hypothesis)
Experiment:
Materials:






Water
2 equal size containers
Tweezers
Timers
2 antacid tablets
Goggles
Procedure:
1. Fill each container with the same amount of water.
2. Crush one tablet and put into one of the containers. Place the whole tablet
into the other container. Record initial reactions.
3. Time for 10 minutes. Record final observations.
Observation: Record data on data chart.
Conclusion: Analyze results; reflect back on your hypothesis. Write your conclusion on the
lab sheet.
