Opportunities - Big Brothers Big Sisters of Eastern Newfoundland

Corporate Sponsorship
Opportunities
Bowl for Kids Sake is Big Brothers Big Sisters’ premiere, national fund raising campaign.
It consists of 20 ‘Challenges” that create friendly competition amongst sectors such as financial
services, education, accounting, retail and post-secondary. Our participants believe in supporting
good causes that create strong, healthy communities for children. They are educated consumers
who value and patronize companies that give back to the community. On average, each of our 800
participants gets 10 pledges… that’s 8,000 people who hear about our campaign from a friend or
colleague.
With your help as a major sponsor, we can match many more deserving children with a
caring, adult mentor. Please review the categories of sponsorship included in this package
and you will see the measurable benefits for your company.

Celebrating our 40th Anniversary
Be a part of something BIG! Celebrate 40 years of mentoring with us at this year’s
event. Bowl for Kids Sake isn’t about being a good bowler it’s about having a good time
while raising money for a great cause. Last year’s event was a great success. Thanks
to people like you, the lives of over 450 children in our community were brightened
through the continuing work of Big Brothers Big Sisters.
800+ Participants
Bowl for Kids Sake consists of 20 ‘Challenges’ that create friendly competition among sectors such as education, financial
services, retail and accounting. Participants are generally employed adults who support good causes and believe in a
strong, healthy community for children. They are educated consumers who value and patronize companies that give
back to the community. On average, each of these participants gets 10 pledges… that’s 8,000 people who hear about our
campaign from a friend or colleague.
Campaign information is sent to everyone who has contact with the agency such as prize donors, sponsors, volunteers
and parents. It is also advertised through local media outlets as well as Facebook and Twitter. BFKS will take place from
April 30 to May 3. Our campaign goal for 2015 is $160,000.
Money raised will help us help more kids
What if every child is set on the right path today? Wouldn’t that be something? Money raised through this campaign helps
us recruit, screen and train volunteers & professionally support our matches; host events for Big/Little Matches;
provide materials for In-School Mentors; provide healthy snacks and supplies for our Go Girls and Game On group
mentoring programs; increase the number of children matched and reduce our waitlist.
In 2014 we served over 430 children through our programs
OUR VISION
Every child who needs a mentor should have a mentor.
OUR GOAL
To prevent problems by helping youth develop personal strengths, self-esteem and healthy relationships.
SOCIAL RETURN ON INVESTMENT
A recent study designed to audit the financial return to society on children and youth whom had been mentored compared
to the same cohort whom had not been mentored demonstrates that, over their working lives, former “Littles/mentees” will
earn on average $315,000 more than those in the control group.
Big Brothers Big Sisters mentoring programs generate an average social return on investment or SROI
of $18 for every dollar invested and for the most economically disadvantaged participants in Big
Brothers Big Sisters mentoring programs the impact is even higher with an average, SROI of
$23 for each dollar invested!
Unlocking a child’s true potential creates a future where anything is possible.
