Welcome
To lighthouse youth!
We are the high school ministry of Lighthouse
and our aim is to create an environment where
young people can meet with one another and
experience God in a real and relevant way.
It’s a place where everyone can feel free to be
themselves, have fun, and ask lifes big questions!
We have a committed team of leaders who have
a heart to support young people and families
through the high school years and help bring the
best out in them.
The following information is here to serve as a
guide for your questions but always feel free to
contact the church or come and find a youth
leader on Sundays with any further enquiries.

Friday
Youth
Nights
Every Friday night during school term we meet at our two campus
locations from 6:30-8:30pm where there’s awesome live music,
great speaking, wild competitions and games!
We have updates on social media throughout the week to keep you
informed of what is happening. This is the best place to be involved
and meet people!
Our locations are:
Central - 1 Railway Station Square Wollongong
(right next to Wollongong train station)
Southern - 4/9 Durgadin Drive Albion Park
Lifegroups
Lifegroups are where small groups
of young people meet every two
weeks to build solid friendships and
understand God in a deeper way.
They are led by one of our Youth
Leaders who will coordinate the
group outside of regular Friday night
youth nights. We have Lifegroups
that cover all high school ages and
meet in many locations across the
Illawarra. They are a great help in
growing closer to God and learning
how he works in our lives. Send us
an email, facebook message or chat
with us on Sunday for info on times
and locations.
Events
Leadership
The Lighthouse Youth Team consists of over 30 volunteers who
regularly meet together to debrief and plan, as well as keep up to
date with training and procedures.
Every year we have an annual Youth Leaders Retreat where we
spend 3 days together growing as a team so we can create the
best youth environment possible at our church. There are always
opportunities for new people to join the team and become leaders
and we strongly encourage our senior high youth to head in this
direction.
All members of our youth team have undergone. Working With
Children checks and many have received First Aid training. All our
programs and events are fully supervised and safe.
1. Summer Camp
A 3 night/4 day trip away
where we head down the coast
to surf, swim, have fun and make the
summer holidays a memorable one!
These are some of the greatest times we
have together and are not to be missed!
2. Big Exo Day
The largest drug and
alcohol free youth event
in the state.

Please don’t hesitate to ask us any questions with regards to our
approach and direction in youth leadership.
Every year we have
“three
main events that
we love to be a part of!
3. Groundswell
Groundswell is an annual event which combines the youth ministries
of the Illawarra together forone massive night! It’s held around May,
attracts hundreds of young people and is not to be missed!
There are many other smaller events we have happening throughout the
year which aren’t mentioned here but will be advertised via social media.

FAQ’s
What age can my child attend?
Youth is for high school aged students. However during December each year we
encourage year 6 students who will be in high school the following year to begin
attending so they can be familiar with Friday youth nights before high school.
Does it cost money to come to youth?
No. All our youth nights are free unless informed otherwise.
Can a youth leader help me with transport?
This is a case by case scenario. Our youth leaders always endeavour to make sure
anyone who wants to come can come. However we always ask parents to take
responsibility over their child’s transport first before requesting assistance. In the
case where this isn’t possible please contact Lighthouse during the week and we will
do our best to help.
Can my child get involved?
Absolutely! We have a great creative youth team so if you are a musician, interested
in sound or technical things – or just want to help set up, let us know and we will tell
you what’s next!
Is youth safe?
Yes! We have fantastic well trained leaders who have all undergone Working With
Children checks and receive regular ongoing training. Many are First Aid trained and
have youth social work qualifications.
