Junior Uniform
When we reviewed our school uniform in 2003 and 2009 with students, staff,
and parents, the preferred uniform colours shifted more towards black and
white with a touch of maroon rather than the previous versions of our
uniform. We are pleased with the result.
Uniform is worn for identification and safety reasons and is compulsory from
year 9-12. Year 13 students may wear appropriate mufti but may be asked to
wear uniform for special occasions when they represent the school. The PE
uniform is also compulsory for PE students. Sports uniforms are supplied for
teams but must be replaced if lost because they are valued school property.
Cosmetics and jewellery are not to be worn with the school uniform, unless
it is a small plain stud or ring in the ear lobe or a Maori pendant. Facial
piercings are not allowed at any level. Male students are to be clean shaven. The school management and staff
reserve the right to ensure uniform standards are upheld, which include grooming, hair-styles/hair colour and
jewellery. Permitted artificial hair colours are natural blonde, ginger and black. Extreme hairstyles are not
approved and the Principal has the final decision on what is appropriate and inappropriate to wear with the
school uniform. The year 13 Mufti Code for all students is available from the school office and on the school
website.
Year 9-10 Girls’ Uniform
Over-blouse – white-stretch fabric with rolled collar, 3/4 sleeves
and double-pointed hem at front. Available from Adventure

Girls’ vest – black, monogrammed, v-neck, shaped and sleeveless
woollen garment, made by Otago Knitwear. Available from

Kilt – LPHS maroon, black and grey tartan (Alliance 596). Available
from Arthur Barnett School Shop.
Socks – plain white ankle socks or plain black knee socks or black
tights.
Shoes – traditional black leather, plain lace-up regulation school
shoe. No heels, sneaker or “skatie” brands. Available from Hannahs,
No 1 Shoes or Frames.
