Find out why joining the BGS can help you
deliver better care for older people
Joining the British Geriatrics Society
Do you treat older patients with complex conditions and frailty?
Do you feel like a geriatrician some days?
Would easy access to a wealth of up-to-date, high-quality information be useful?
How about support from a network of
specialists and experts in the care of
older people?
Are you interested in accredited
learning opportunities?
If any of the above apply to you, then
you should join the British Geriatrics
Society: you’ll be surprised by how
reasonable it is to join, and by the
benefits to your clinical work in
partnering with the largest and fastestgrowing medical specialty.
“My BGS membership has offered me
shared advice, encouragement and
support from a great network of
professional friends and colleagues. As
a GP member of the BGS, my
perspectives are valued and respected
by specialist colleagues; I’ve been
encouraged and supported to
contribute in several areas, including
writing for the Society's newsletter and
presenting at national conferences.”
Dr Dawn Moody
The British
Geriatrics Society is
evolving
The British Geriatrics Society is the
professional body of specialists in the health care of older people in the United
Kingdom.
Our membership is becoming increasingly multidisciplinary, including GPs,
nurses, occupational therapists and physiotherapists. They’ve joined career
geriatricians in an inclusive, integrated society.
The speciality will continue adapting, to enable the NHS to deliver the right care
to older people in the right place at the right time. GPs are an essential part of
delivering that care, and a closer alliance between GPs and Geriatricians within
the BGS will support that vision.
