What was the process of tanning hide?
It took a long time to make the clothing because there was a lot of steps. First the Iroquois men had to hunt for the deer because clothing was made from deerskin often. The Iroquois also used birds and its feathers , porcupines for using its quills. Second the Iroquois men gave the women the deer so they could use its skin to make clothing. The reason why a lot of the clothing was made from deerskin is because deer was very popular. Third after the Iroquois men gave the women the deer and made it into deerskin the women would soak it in the animals brain (called tanning.) Fourth the Iroquois would put the deerskin on racks to dry. Then if it was not perfect then they would have to do it over until it was perfect. The Iroquois people also used glass beads that the Europeans gave them.

breechcloth. Then when it got colder the
Iroquois men would add deerskin. They
would also add deerskin shirts , leggings ,
moccasins and sometimes fur robes.
The Iroquois women wore wrap skirts ,
shirts ( that were also made out of
deerskin ) , leggings and moccasins.
Sometimes if the women wanted to
