ANNUAL PARISH MEETING MINUTES
Minutes of meeting held at 7:30 pm on Tuesday 28th April 2015
at Peckleton Village Hall, Main Street, Peckleton

15/053 Welcome/Apologies for Absence and Introductions
Apologies had been received from Cllr J. Newbury which were accepted.
The Chairman welcomed those present and introduced the Clerk, Cllr Porter, himself and
Mrs Pitt; who would be presenting the Stan Pitt Community Award.
15/054 Presentations of the “Stan Pitt Community Award”
The Chairman explained the purpose of the award was to recognise those people in the
village who are often the unsung heroes doing what is necessary, often in the background,
to make a success of a variety of village activities. The Chairman thanked everyone in the
parish for what they do for others in their local community.
Mrs Pitt spoke on presenting the awards and recognising her husband who the award was
named after, acknowledging what people do is important to village activities.
The Chairman read through the list of finalists for the award, describing what they each did
to be nominated.
Mrs Sandra Ladkin – Noted as treasurer of Peckleton Village Hall Committee, and also for
helping to organise the monthly whist drives for many years. Mrs Ladkin can often be
found decorating the hall and village church for various events.
Mr Roy Stafford – Noted for leadership of the Stapleton Village Hall Committee, over
several years, often carrying out much of the maintenance work himself.
Mrs Ladkin was presented with the winner’s trophy by Mrs Pitt, before she commended Mr
Stafford for all his efforts.
15/055 Approval and signing of the minutes of the Annual Meeting held on Thursday 15th May
2014.
Cllr G. Dover proposes, Cllr M. Hill seconds, all agree.
15/056 Chairman’s Reports of 2014/15
The Chairman read out his annual report, providing copies to all present. and then offered
to answer any questions regarding his report and comments. No questions were asked.

15/057 To receive update on Elections for 7th May 2015
The Clerk updated those present on the Parish Elections being Uncontested, with 2
Members for Peckleton, 1 for Kirkby Mallory and 1 for Stapleton. 2 vacancies would then
exist, to be filled by co-option.
15/058 To bring Housing Needs Survey to parishioners attention.
The Chairman gave details of the Housing Needs Survey asking residents for suggestions
of where the proposed properties could be located.

15/059 Open Question Time:
Residents were concerned with speeding in Stapleton, asking if anything could be done to
ensure drivers travelled within the speed limits, as they believed the potential for incidents
would only rise when the Barwell SUE started construction.
The Chairman promised to follow this up as part of the next Council.
Residents reported vehicles travelling at 50mph+ on Dadlington Lane.
In Peckleton, residents were concerned with vehicles using wrong side of the road at keep
left to overtake, and asking what could be done?
Cllr Sutton and Cllr Camamile commented that chicanes may help with the issue but the
police and County Highways would make final determination on the possibility of their
installation.
As a Highways representative, Cllr Camamile requested anyone with any concerns on
Highways issues contact her directly with when/where the incidents take place.
The Chairman asked questions of parishioners on proposed installation of defibrillators in
villages, soliciting thoughts on using phone boxes to install them, and asking for
alternative locations to be suggested.
Some questions followed on how they operated and who would have access.
The Chairman explained following installation the parish council would put on various
training sessions and asked as many people as possible to come along.
