Cultivating our local food culture,
from seed to bloom, season by season
Member of Edible Communities
Edible Milwaukee has arrived... finally.
Edible Milwaukee is a quarterly magazine and online platform focused on the production,
distribution, and consumption of food in Milwaukee and the Midwest. We are part of a
larger network of 75+ Edible Communities publications in North America, each locallyowned and -oriented. Our goals as a publication are:
t
to take advantage of our position within a national network of magazines to act as a
megaphone, amplifying Milwaukee’s achievements to food fans locally and nationwide;
t
to recognize the city’s significant contributions to food-related initiatives;
t
to highlight the unique cultural makeup of the city and to pay homage to each group’s
contributions to Milwaukee’s foodscape; and
t
to honor Milwaukee’s historical food traditions, whether from the past or being
revitalized by new producers today.
Here’s what Milwaukee’s food community is saying about us:
Edible Milwaukee’s pages and online community offer rare access to the most influential and
passionate food and drink enthusiasts in the region. Adjacent to our trusted editorial voice,
your brand will shine by association with our community, making Edible the perfect place for
defining, revitalizing, and strengthening your business.
But don’t take our word for it.
“As an eater and writer, I’m honored to participate in an organization whose mission is so firmly situated in the
local food arena, and whose aspirations include a commitment to clean, just food. As a Milwaukeean, I’m excited
about the evolution of our city’s food scene, and I’m thrilled to be a part of a publication that aims to tell the
story from an alternative angle.”
— Lori Fredrich, Board member, Outpost Co-op; Co-founder, MKE Foodies
“When I travel to various parts of the country, one of the first things I check out is whether or not they have
an Edible magazine in that city. Edible Santa Fe and Edible New Orleans are two of my favorites. I am simply
overjoyed that Edible Milwaukee will be birthed for both Milwaukee residents and all the folks who find their
way to our city. Stories focusing on food, people, and the welcome tables they set are an important part of the
life of urban areas. I am looking forward to Edible Milwaukee serving up a heaping helping of culinary delight!”
— Venice Williams, Director, Alice’s Garden
“It’s a thrilling prospect for me to be a part of this new magazine because I, along with the other advisory panel
members, feel that there is a deep well of stories to be told in the Milwaukee food scene that either haven’t been
told or that haven’t been dug into as deeply as they could be.”
— Justin Johnson, Executive Chef, Harvest Market, Watertown
And here’s what folks are saying nationally:
“I just love reading [Edible Communities] publications cover to cover — they are some of the best things I’ve
ever read.”
— Julia Child
“[Edible Communities publications] have become the unofficial literary journals of the farmer-writer movement.”
— The New York Times
“I call what you are doing ‘The Edible Phenomenon’ — you’ve accomplished something that most publishers
have not done. The concept and the publications are fantastic.”
— Margo True, former Managing Editor, Saveur magazine (now the Food Editor for Sunset magazine)
“It’s rare but always satisfying when food writing is as delicious as the food itself. The various Edible Communities
publications have allowed each of its regions to enjoy their own full literary and culinary spotlight.”
— Peter Reinhart, Author and Johnson & Wales University Chef on Assignment

About Our Readers
Edible Milwaukee readers are concerned, connected, savvy and community minded. They are active
consumers who are passionate about local foods and sustainability. They care about the quality of the
food they eat and where it comes from. They look for value, but don’t mind paying more for something if
its quality is exceptional and there is a good story behind it. They are regular restaurant diners and terrific
home cooks. They support their local farmers markets and understand that the best-tasting
and healthiest foods are seasonal, fresh, and local.
