I’m still not at peace with
cancer: Kylie Minogue
S
inger Kylie Minogue says there are some days when
she gets restless about the time when she was bat
tling breast cancer. The 48-year-old singer, who was
diagnosed with the disease in 2005, says although she
has had no scares for over ten years, it still has an impact
on her life, reported FemaleFirst.
"When I reached my ten-year
mark, I burst into tears. (I spoke
about my diagnosis because) I felt
people needed to know something, but no one knows the whole
story. It's a lengthy process and it
affects everything. "Some days,
I'm still not at peace with it. I go,
'Dammit, I wish I could just wear
what I used to wear and not...' It
changes a lot of things. It breaks
my heart to think about what my family had to go
through," Minogue told Weekend Australian magazine.
The songstress underwent a partial mastectomy and gruelling chemotherapy and radiotherapy treatment. (PTI)
he has portrayed vari
ous characters on
screen in films like
Gangs of Wasseypur, Ek Thi
Daayan, Dedh Ishqiya and
Jolly LLB 2, but actress
Huma Qureshi says she is
waiting for a film where the
character she plays "resembles" her.
"There are times, when
actors do resemble the characters they portray onscreen, but I don't think I
have played myself in front
of the camera. I have always
portrayed a character.
Though I would love to play
myself. I think I am very interesting. I need to definitely play myself," Huma told
IANS in an interview.
"I don't know what I am
in real life. I can't really describe myself. But what you
see onscreen that's not who
we really are. We are very
different from the characters
we play onscreen," added
the actress, who promoted
diamond brand Forevermark
here earlier this week.
Huma said she has often
been misunderstood because of her roles.
"I remember when I did
my first film Gangs of Wasseypur, a lot of people
thought that I am a girl from
Bihar. I never visited Bihar
before that in my life. When
people feel you are that
character in real life, then at
least as actors we feel that
we have done our job nicely.
"A lot of people even
thought that I couldn't
speak in English. When they
met me, they were surprised.
I belong to Delhi and have
been born and brought up
here," she said.
Huma, who last appeared
in Jolly LLB 2, is currently
doing a "28-day cleanse"
over social media.
"I am not on a fitness regime. Basically it is whatever I eat I will share it with my
followers on social media.
The idea is to follow a more
healthier lifestyle. It is not
to lose weight or become a
certain size. It's not for a film.
It's just a way of life," said
Huma.
"I need to tell my followers that healthy food is not
boring or bland. In a way,
I've always spoken about
how it's important for us to

time of private affections or relationships.
Leo : (July 23 - August 23) The best ideas tend to come from periods of being

emotional world.

going to be a busy and hectic day on work. Your efforts will yield results and make
it a productive day mostly for professionals or people employed in jobs. Positive
developments in career makes the day satisfying. You will have an outgoing and a
competitive mood throughout the day.
Aquarius : (January 21 - February 18) You're adapting to your changing
environment as quickly as you can. You may seem a little preoccupied or distant to
those around you, but this is because you actually need all of your energy to adjust.
Don't worry too much about trying to please others now. You already have plenty
on your mind. They're going to have to be patient!
Pisces : (February 19 - March 20) Today you might gather with some very smart

BENGALURU: A group of people led by an Andhra

toll plaza at Bagepalli in Chikkaballapura district, after
they were asked to pay the toll fees. Hindupur MP Nimmal
Kristappa's son Ambarish was on his way to Bengaluru
International Airport and was asked to pay the fees at
the toll plaza located near the Andhra Pradesh- Karnataka

Ambarish showed a pass, saying it exempts them from
paying the toll. This led to arguments between them and
toll plaza staff and resulted in ransacking and vandalising of the tollgate, police said. Police said they have registered a case and are investigating. A counter complaint
was filed from Ambarish's side, accusing the toll plaza

The court had on

Lakshmanan had approached the high court to

Mehbooba says PM amenable to

NEW DELHI: Jammu and
Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti on Monday
said the prime minister appears amenable to holding
talks with stake holders in a
bid to arrest the deteriorating situation in the Valley.
However, she cautioned,
that "an atmosphere needs
to be created" for a dialogue.
"Talks cannot happen amid
stone pelting and firing of
bullets," she told reporters
after a 20-minute meeting
with
Prime

Narendra Modi at his residence.
At the meeting, she invoked former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee's
policy on Kashmir, and said
the thread should be picked
up from where he had left
off -- an apparent suggestion for talks with separatists. "The prime minister
has an intention of holding
talks after the situation becomes normal," Mehbooba
told reporters.
Kashmir is in the grip of
increased violence since the

they are faced with almost

Fashion designing institute
imparts skill to Tihar inmates
KOLKATA: Inmates of
Tihar jail are being imparted
stitching skills by a leading
fashion designing institute
to help them join the mainstream. "Recently in Tihar
jail we helped the inmates
to have their own set ups
as part of the project of our
Indian institute. This was
aimed to facilitate them to
stitch basic garments and
make them independent,"
celelebrated Italian fashion
expert Antonio Maurizio
Grioli told a press meet here
on Monday.
"Our students and experts are imparting skills to
the inmates at our fashion
laboratory so that they can
rehabilitate themselves after their release as many a
time they are shunned by
the society," CEO of the institute, Prof Nandita
Abraham said. "Fashion
has to do with communication as well," Abraham said.
Tihar Jail is the country's
largest maximum-security
prison and it has taken several measures to ensure integration of inmates with
the society. "We would like
to take this effort all over
India and Mumbai will be
the next stop," she added
to a question.
Grioli said Indian students of the institute are
showcasing their products
in global fashion shows including the Milan Fashion
Week, Paris Fashion Week
as well as the Amazon Fashion Week in sync with the
'Made In India' campaign of
Narendra Modi.
"The Indian craft and textiles have been widely appreciated at the last Amazon Fashion Week. We are
also partnering with one of
the five institutes in Milan
and
our
students
showcased garments in last
Milan Fashion show as
well. "The designers should
know what is going on in
the Indian context and how
to contemporise classic
techniques. We are addressing our students to international fashion," he
said.
Fashion designing students of the Indian institute
were also going for exchange programme with
counterparts in Europe.
"Besides, we are working on an eco-friendly
project with a New Zealand
institute as part of the programme," Grioli said. Grioli,
an internationally known
fashion expert, has been
teaching in India for more
than 10 years now and is a
great proponent of Indian
textiles,
fabrics
and
handlooms.
