The Meeker Emerald Dance Team is a year round program at Meeker that encourages school
spirit, team building, and having fun! We practice two-three times a week and perform at school
football/basketball games, pep assemblies, and community performances (Puyallup Fair, Husky
Halftime, elderly homes, parades, and NW Folklife Festival etc). We also compete at local
dance/drill competitions against other middle schools in the state of WA. This year we placed 1st
in both dance and pom categories at multiple competitions! Being on the team results in
learning many life skills, as well as, making friendships that last a lifetime!
**No dance experience required in order to tryout!**
Who?: Current 6th/7th graders who will be attending Meeker MS for the 2017-2018 school year!
Tryout Meeting: Monday, June 5th @ 6:30pm - Meeker MS main gym.
**Both you and a parent/guardian must be present at this meeting as we will go over details
about the team and tryouts. You will also receive all tryout paperwork that will be worth points in
your final tryout score.
Team Tryouts:
Dates: June 12th - June 15th (Monday-Thursday)
Final judging (closed tryout) on June 15th
Time: 5:30-7:30 pm every night
1. ALL participants must create an account and register online via FamilyID. Registration will be

2. ALL participants need a sports physical uploaded to FamilyID or on file at Meeker with the
Athletic Department. 6th graders physicals must be dated after June 1st, 2017. You can pick up
the sports physical form in any KSD school’s main office or you can print from online on the
Kent School District website.
Complete these two requirements BEFORE the first day of tryouts. Coaches will have list of
those who have completed online registrations. If online registration and sports physicals are
not done, unfortunately, you will be asked to sit out until all is completed. During tryouts, you will
learn dance technique and a dance routine on which you will be judged on the last day.
