Homemade Microwave Popcorn
For healthier, less expensive microwave popcorn, try popping your own at home!
Cost:
You will need:
¼ cup popping corn (or, a little more than
3 Tablespoons)
brown paper lunch bag
stapler
butter, optional
salt, optional
about 10 cents per bag
(instead of 60 cents for a store-bought
microwave popcorn bag!)

What to do:
● Open the bag and pour in the popping corn
● Fold top of bag over ½ inch and staple it twice
● Place bag flat on its side in microwave oven
● Micro-cook on high for about 2 to 3 minutes or
until the popping slows down to a rate of
5 seconds between pops
● Carefully remove the staples and open the bag
(contents will be HOT!)
● Add butter and salt (optional)
Nutrition Information:
Serving Size: 3 Tablespoons unpopped
(makes about 6 cups popped)
Servings Per Container: about 6 cups
Calories: 15 calories per cup popped
Total fat: 0 grams (without butter added)
