Installing ClearVue Fencing 2. Decide where the gate is to be positioned. Our standard gate is 900mm wide. For the recommend latch you will need to allow between 920mm and 938mm for the hinges & latches so the gate can open and close. Remember that the gap for the gate should be measured from post to post NOT base plate to base plate. Refer to your instructions from the Latch and Hinge manufacturer for exact dimensions. 3. String a line the length of the proposed fence line to ensure posts are set in a straight line. The string line can be on the inside or outside of the base plate whichever is easier. Remember to leave enough room so the base plate is far enough away from the edge of the pool or deck and that the fasteners will be going into a solid fixing point. 4. Two Spigots are already attached to each post using 2 screws. Remove any spigots from end posts and insert the plugs supplied. Repeat this for all posts that require bottom spigots removed. 5. Place the first post where the gate is to be hinged from ensuring that the edge of the base plate follows the line of the proposed fence. To ensure panels are easy to install its essential you keep the base plate square with your string line. 6. Mark the 4 holes in the bottom plate with a pencil, remove post. 7. Drill holes for the required fixings. 8. Place post over holes and insert fixings and fasten according to manufacturers specifications. It is very important that you use a spirit level to ensure all your posts are true in both dimensions. If the posts are not exactly true you will have difficulty installing the panels. Use noncorroding packers (PVC or Stainless Steel) under the base plate to plumb the posts if required. Note: Use a spirit level to ensure that the posts are vertically plumb before fixing 9. Insert your first bottom rail and then the next post. If this is not a full width panel you may need to trim the bottom rail to length. Alternatively you can place bottom rail on top of spigot, as shown in diagram 1. Mark the 4 holes on bottom plate, remove bottom rail and post, drill holes as in step 7. (DO NOT FIX YET.) 10. Slide bottom rail over the spigot on fixed post. You will need to remove the plastic U-Section and trim the bottom to allow the spigot to fit neatly into the bottom rail. 11. Slide next post and spigot into the bottom rail. Ensure posts are hard up against bottom rail. The post will line up with the pre-drilled holes from step 9. 12. Fix post as in step 8. REMEMBER It’s very important that you use a spirit level to ensure all your posts are true in both dimensions. If the posts are not exactly true you will have difficulty installing the panels. 13.Insert bottom Rail Gasket into the fixed bottom rail. (Again ensure the bottom of the gasket has been trimmed to clear spigots.) 14. Peel back protection film approximately 50mm from all sides (both sides of panel). Slide in pre-cut ClearVue Acrylic Panel. Leave the protective film on until job is fully completed. Ensure polished edge is at the top. 15. Place rubber gasket x2 into the same side of each post, starting at the bottom of the posts. Keeping pressure on panel so gaskets don’t fall out. Place next 2 gaskets on the reverse side of the panel. This will require soapy water as the fit will be tight. It’s useful to ensure that the water is reasonable soapy and that you keep the rubbers wet. This will make fitting much easier! Gaskets should finish flush with post. 16. Do not trim gaskets or place post caps until fence install is finished. 17. Repeat steps 9-15 on all full panels until the fence is complete. Note: The last panel may need to be cut to size to fit into space, follow cutting instructions on page 15. Use a hacksaw or metal cut off saw to cut the bottom rail ensuring a straight cut. File off any metal burrs as these can scratch the acrylic sheet. Note: A corner post is available for 90˚ corners. Fix as n steps 9 - 12. Note: For random angled corners use two end posts back to back. Ensure that the gap between posts is no more than 100mm. This may require trimming of the base plate. Fix as in steps 9 - 12. Cutting Instructions ClearVue Sawing The standard machines used for wood and metalworking are suitable for machining PLEXIGLAS®. Non-vibrating high-speed machines provide clean cut edges especially when the Irwin Marathon PVC blade is used. Circular Handsaws and Circular Table Saws: When cutting PLEXIGLAS® to size, the blades of circular handsaws or of circular table saws should protrude only slightly beyond the sheet. • Always use carbide-tipped saw blades. • Teeth: trapezoidal flat tooth or alternate teeth. • Tooth pitch: ~ 13mm. • Always work with a stop. • Carefully saw into the sheet with the saw running. • Make sure that cutting is exact. • Do no tilt the material. • Fix the sheets to avoid flutter. • Saw at an average feed rate. • Make sure the sheet is protected from the base of the saw to avoid scratches. Tips • Cool thoroughly with water, especially when working with spiral drills, conical drills, compass saws and jigsaws. • Mask Circular Saw base plate with masking tape to stop scratching on sheets.
