A Look Back at
March
1st Grade
Our first graders have been working hard reading
short stories in Spanish. We started a new farm
animal book, Oso Pardo Oso Pardo ¿Que Ves
Ahi? Students have been learning all of the farm
animal vocabulary found in the story in order to
re-create their own version in Spanish!
2nd Grade
Students have finished their “Todo Sobre Mi” unit
by completing a poster describing themselves and
all of their favorite things in Spanish! We will be
presenting our posters to our class together and
sharing in our favorite activities!
3rd Grade
Third graders are reading the story David Va Al
Colegio by David Shannon. We have been working
hard learning all vocabulary pertaining to the
school including school supplies, commands, people
and places at John Marshall and emotions. We are
finally ready to read the story in Spanish and have
fun making a virtual comic strip in April!
4th Grade
Fourth graders have started their delicious
smoothie recipes in Spanish using tropical fruits.
Students created their own recipes and then will
record their voices and presentations on
ScreenCastify on their Chromebooks in Spanish!
5th Grade
¡Viva México! Students have finished their virtual
field trip and study of México! We used a variety
of tools such as Google Maps, streetview, and
Prezi to conduct a geographical and cultural study
of this large spanish-speaking country! Students
have learned about the nation’s capital, beaches,
ancient Aztec and Maya ruins, and many exciting
cities and their contributions to México.
What to Expect in
April
1st Grade
John Marshall’s first graders will be starting a new
story in Spanish this April! Students will be reading The
Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle. Students will
learn the vocabulary associated with the wonderful life
cycle of a butterfly as well as all of the yummy treats the
caterpillar eats in the story! We will also be reviewing
the Spanish calendar and days of the week this month!
2nd Grade
Students will be learning body parts vocabulary through
the use of songs, videos, communicative activities, the
class website, and games. This will wrap up our “Todo
Sobre Mi” unit and the students will complete one last
project to describe themselves in Spanish!
3rd Grade
Students will be starting their David Va Al Colegio
virtual comic strips on www.storyboardthat.com in
Spanish! This will be such a fun and exciting project that
they will be able to use their creativity and knowledge of
our learned vocabulary to create a character and their
experiences at school. Students will be able to read,
present, and share their comics to the class once the
project is completed! Together we will create an entire
comic book with their strips!
4th Grade
Fourth graders will wrap up their delicious smoothie
recipes using ScreenCastify on their Chromebooks. We
will have the opportunity to watch and listen to our video
recipes in Spanish! Afterwards, students will be taking a
virtual field trip to Puerto Rico using an interactive
Prezi presentation and Google Maps.
5th Grade
Our fifth graders will continue their trip through México
and will learn all about its Independence Day or “El Grito
de Dolores”! Students will be able to watch the famous
reenactment in the major town plaza, El Zocalo. They
will even have the chance to participate in the speech!
