Rules summary
The following access rules that apply to the whole water source are a guide only. For more
information about your actual licence conditions please call the NSW Office of Water on
6757 2500.
Access rules for rivers and creeks
Users must Cease to Pump when there is no visible flow at the location

at which water is proposed to be taken.
Note: This rule applies to all extraction from rivers and creeks in the
water source. This rule does not apply to natural in-river or off-river
pools.

Pumping is not permitted when the water level in the natural in-river
Cease to Pump
pool is lower than its full capacity, except by holders of licences listed in
Schedule 2 of the water sharing plan. Of which, licence holders listed in
the schedule from the Mole River Water Source are permitted to draw
down their pools by 30 cm between March and August (inclusive) and
20 cm between September and February (inclusive).
Pumping is not permitted when the water level in the natural off-river
pool is lower than its full capacity.
Note: ‘Full capacity’ can be approximated by the pool water level at the
point where visible inflow and outflow of that pool becomes no longer
evident.
Note: Natural in-river pools include pools found within the channels of
rivers and creeks.
Note: Natural off-river pools include pools located on flood runners,
floodplains and effluents e.g. lakes, lagoons and billabongs.

Note: These access rules do not apply:
1. if the existing Water Act 1912 entitlement had more stringent access licence conditions. These
existing conditions will be carried forward under the plan and are included in appendix 3.
2. to major water utility, local water utility or unregulated river (town water supply) access licences
3. to water taken for domestic consumption by stock and domestic access licences
4. for the first 5 years of the plan to water taken for stock watering by stock and domestic access
licences
5. to water taken from existing dams. Any existing licence conditions associated with a dam will be
carried forward under the plan.
