Dear Cherry Chase Chargers, we
are pleased to bring you our spring
Student Newsletter and welcome
new ideas and suggestions on what
you would like to see in Your
newsletter.
I want to thank all those who sent in
their entries. This one is another
great newsletter but we would like
to see lot more entries `from
Chargers

the
coming
newsletters, for we know there is
lot more hidden talent in our
students.

One day at Dogville, Furo was planning
a race. He is going to invite Barskey,
Speedo and Zippy.
Furo called it "The Dog Race". The
winner will get a gold trophy. Second
place will get a medal.
Then the race begins. First they go across
the creepy bridge. Then they go through
the haunted house and they scared ghosts.
Then they swam across wavy river and
ran towards the finish line. Furo was just
one inch ahead of Zippy. Furo won the
trophy and Zippy got the medal. It was
the best race ever.
Breeders are used to breed different
animals to get another animal.
You can get coins from quests and pets.
Sometimes you can get gems by doing
quests. You can use both of them for
buying, breeding, and the nursery. You
can use coins or gems to buy pets which
give coins. Quests can help you gather
coins or gems. Nurseries and breeders
help you get more pets.
That is what Pet Shop Story is about. If

Hi, I will teach you how to play Pet Shop
Story. There are quests. Quests are
supposed to be done. You get more and
more quests that help you. You can buy
pets because pets are the main goal of the
game.
Nurseries are where you get baby pets.
You need to wait to get them and need
two of the same animals to make a baby.

The Great Wall of China
- Mirabelle Feng, Grade 3
The Great Wall is so amazing that I don’t
even know what word I should use to
describe it. Before I saw it, the Great
Wall was already pictured in my mind. It
is like a gigantic dragon, winding up and
down across the mountain ridge. I was so
excited that I couldn’t wait to go! “Mom,
are we there yet”? I asked over and over
on our way to the Great Wall. “Very
soon”, she answered. It felt like hours
and hours past until we were there.
The reason I was so excited was because
the Great Wall is one of the greatest
wonders of the world. It was built about
2000 years ago by Chinese people to
protect the country from invaders. “It
does look like a dragon!” I shouted when
I finally saw it. “Yeah, it is long and
spiral”, my friend Kelly agreed. We
walked and ran together as we passed
watchtowers one by one. It was fun but
tiring. Eventually we climbed the rest of
the way up to the last-and-final
watchtower.
“This is so beautiful”, I breathed heavily,
looking around the top of the tower.
“Wow, this is amazing”! Kelly said.
“Worth the climbing”? Mom asked.
“Yes, of course”! Both Kelly and I said.
As we walked back to the cable cars, I
turned around to taste the last bit of
excitement, happiness and joy from the
Great Wall. I wish I could come back
again!

Little Singers Disneyland Trip

It’s time! It’s time! Let’s jump aboard
and take off! We, the Little Singers, were
going to Disneyland to sing and have fun
during March 18-20. “I hope you will
remember this trip forever! Let’s hope
that you'll win the gold medal.

Friends Poem
-Iris Foo, Grade 2
Forever be,
Responsible,
Last year they were very lucky – they
won gold. I know you are smart enough
to do it too!” said our principal, Jane,
through the microphone. I laughed with
one of my hotel roommates, Juliana. We
were sure that we would at least get silver
because we weren’t that bad.
My other roommate’s name was
Josephine, but we sometimes call her
Fifi, that’s her nickname. We liked
playing “Coconut” and “Chopsticks” on
the bus while we waited to get there. We
also told each other jokes. When we
arrived at our first stop – Newsong
Church, I knew Juliana and Josephine
were as excited as me.
“Last one up the stairs is the rotten egg!”
a girl named Luthien yelled. We all ran to
the top of the stairs, all except Josephine.
“Josephine’s the rotten egg! Josephine’s
the rotten egg!” We all kept chanting.
“So…?” Josephine sounded hurt.
“So you’re the rotten egg!” Juliana and I
said together. Then we both laughed.
“Hey, should we check it out?” Juliana’s
mom, who is one of the chaperons living
in the same hotel room asked, curious
about what was inside a big door. We
were too busy laughing that we forgot
where we were and was surprised when
we found ourselves in front of a white
door. We all stepped in to check it out.
There, big cloth paintings were hung up
for us to see. We learned that it probably
took 5 years to sew it. Wow!!
There were many pictures in a book that
showed why and how the cloth paintings
were made. We kept walking and
walking until we realized that we were
walking in a circle! We all sighed and
dragged ourselves back to the garden,
where we were supposed to meet with the
class to practice singing together and take
pictures.
We sang the songs “Al shlosha D’varim”,
“I See the Moon”, and “Clap Your Hands
and Sing Hallelujah!” Those songs were
sung at the Disneyland performance.
Soon after, we went back into the bus
heading to the hotel we stayed in for two
nights. As soon as I got my back pack on
the fluffy bed, I started unpacking. This
was the first time I had to take care of
myself and sleep without my family.
Everything went smoothly to me. (Cont.)

(Cont.) The next day which is Saturday,
we slumped into the bus and drove to a
big hill to play. The whole three classes
ran up and down the grassy hill and had
lots of fun until…
“Picture time! Picture time!” our teacher
Chiafen Lin shouted. She clapped as she
talked. Suddenly, a room parent started
pushing everybody to get them to stand
or sit where she wanted them to. Our
principal, Jane helped too. After we took
a million pictures we started to run to a
fountain. When I got there, I felt cold
water running down my back. I whipped
around just to see water.
“Who was that?” I questioned to Celine.
“Her”, she said pointing to Olivia.
Sunset Paradise - Sophie Azriel

“You’ll pay for this!” I screamed at
Olivia. I ran to the fountain for some cold
water. I scooped it in my hands and ran
to spray at Olivia, who ducked but failed.
She was covered in water from head to
toe. She was quiet and ran to the fountain
for revenge. I laughed. I would be able to
dodge her.
Unbelievably, she didn’t throw the water
on me. However, Ashley, one of friends
threw the water directly on MY FACE. I
quickly dodged, but still it was late. Now
I was totally wet too! I went back to the
fountain for lots of payback. Just then, I
started giggling about how funny she
looked with water on her head. What? I
couldn’t help it.
She immediately realized what happened
and ran to the fountain, grabbed some
water, and carefully walked towards me.
Lucky for me, she was too slow and
didn’t get to throw it on me. Then, both
of our room parents were thinking the
same thing: It was time to go.
I couldn’t believe it. We were headed to
the church to perform. My heart was
beating wildly. Would we perform well?
I kept repeating that question over and
over in my head.
Finally, it was our turn to sing.
“Al shlosha…” we all sang with our best
voices and won gold medal finally! After
that, we were playing happily on all kinds
the rides. In addition, we were watching
the fireworks show and the parade as we
waited on these rides. It was
AWESOME!!! Also, I bought a keychain
with my sister's name on it and a 1,000
piece puzzle that I thought looked
interesting.
On Sunday afternoon, we drove back to
our sweet home. “I hope you liked this
trip and you will memorize it clearly.”
said Jane calmly.
“I sure will!” I thought.
At the door of the bus, we greeted our
parents with happy, crying faces. I was
pretty sure that all of us will remember
this trip forever.

Movie Review - Zootopia
The Piece of Cheese
-Alex Azriel, Grade 2
There was a piece of magical cheese. It
got eaten by a mouse. It exploded, but
then the mouse and the cheese reformed.
The mouse ran away. Then the cheese got
moldy, and ants were attracted. The
cheese disappeared and reappeared in the
refrigerator, then the cheese turned into a
mouse and ate 900,000,000,000,000,000
pieces of cheese.

It is an animated film from Walt Disney.
I went to the movie because I watched the
trailer in Youtube and it was so hilarious.
The movie is about both prey and
predator living in peace and harmony.
The main character of the movie is Judy
Hopps and she is a bunny. My favorite
character is Nick Wilde because he was
kind of funny. My favorite part of the
movie is when the sloth took so long to
type. The music was loud and I like the
songs. Judy Hopps always says “You can
be anything in Zootopia”. I would
recommend this movie to my friends.
This movie is going to be in my movie
collection.

How Ruby Found the Aqua Crayon?

Ruby was walking through town. After a
few minutes she thought of going back
home to get her magical locket which her
mother had given her on her birthday.
The locket was full of magic dust that
could help Ruby whenever she needed
help. Suddenly, she saw Hildigard the
evil. Hildigard was waiting for the
opportunity to snatch the locket and
today she got it. Ruby started crying as
she had lost the precious and lucky
locket. Ruby was very sad and
disappointed and was thinking of some
way to get it back. Suddenly, Jade the
fairy princess appeared. She said to Ruby
“stop crying”. I have a gift for you to get
that locket back. Ruby was happy to hear
that. The fairy princess said “take this
aqua crayon to help you find your stolen
locket”. Also she said to her to remember
the two secrets. First, that the aqua
crayon can help you draw anything you
want and it will draw a map of the place
where Hildigard has kept the precious
locket. Next the crayon has magical
powers which can save you from the evil
powers of Hildigard. Soon Ruby was able
to get back the stolen locket, and was
very happy with her locket as well the
magical aqua crayon, with which she is
now painting beautiful drawings and
saving people from the evils of Hildigard.

Why I Love Spring

Spring is one of the four seasons. It is also
a symbol of rebirth. Many animals have
babies such as cows, birds, and ducks.
Animals such as bears who hibernate
start to wake up and become active. On
the first day of spring, the sunrise and
sunset are about 12 hours apart.
Everywhere on Earth, hours of daylight
and night are almost equal. The days get
longer and warmer. Flowers start to smell
and bloom. Butterflies and bees often go
from flower to flower to find food.
Gardens are filled with flowers and good
things to eat.

If I could visit anywhere, I would go
to…Australia’s East Coast
I like to visit places with warm weather,
sandy beaches, and fun things to do. I
have always been fascinated by the
Southern Hemisphere. Imagine escaping
the cold weather in the U.S.A. and going
to a place where it is warm in December.
Imagine celebrating the holiday season
visiting the exotic beaches, snorkeling in
the spectacular coral reefs and meeting
some of the world’s strangest animals.
Australia’s east coast has always been my
dream vacation destination that has all
these ingredients and more.
I would start my journey in the northeastern city of Cairns, where I can spend
my time snorkeling, surfing, and scuba
diving in the Great Barrier Reef. This is
the most magnificent reef in the world
and is full of color. I would spend four
days exploring this place. Then, I would
head south through the state of
Queensland along the Gold Coast to the
state of Brisbane.
Brisbane has a lot of things to do. I would
visit the Koala Bear Sanctuary to cuddle
the cute koalas. I would go to Sea World
and have a lot of water fun. On the way
back, I might taste some scrumptious
tropical fruits. I would spend five days
here as this region has a lot of fun
activities.
The final stop would be Sydney,
Australia’s biggest city. I have heard the
fireworks display on Sydney’s harbor is
splendid. A harbor cruise and a visit to
the famous Opera House are a must-do.
After enjoying the New Year’s
celebration, we would head home.
Australia is a great place to visit. This
dream trip will enrich my knowledge of a
different culture, and place. I hope to
write notes and take a lot of pictures and
perhaps, go back to visit again.

If I could visit anywhere, I would go to
Mysterious Planet Mars
I would like to visit Red Rocky planet
Mars because it's a mysterious planet
where search is going on for the existence
of life. Only spacecraft have been there
so I want to be the first person to go on
this next door neighboring planet. It will
also be a big achievement to do what
other human beings have only dreamed
of. My curiosity would be fulfilled when
I will experience how it would be to live
on another planet.
I would like to see and climb Olympus
Mons - the largest volcanic mountain in
the solar system, which has an incredible
height of 27 km and is 3 times taller than
Mount Everest. I also want to see Valles
Marineris, the largest canyon system in
the solar system. If lined up with USA,
Valles Marineris would stretch from Los
Angeles to New York City. Craters the
size of half a football field would also be
a sight to see. A trip around the two
moons of Mars- Phobos and Deimos
would be a delight to me. Seeing
the magnificent sunrise and sunset would
be a great thing to paint. I will also try to
make interesting things out of iron rich
soil in Mars.
I will look for life on Mars. I will also
collect information about the climate,
what kind of minerals, plants etc. grow
on Mars. I would like to make a Martian
community away from Earth and its
problems of global warming, pollution,
and terrorism. This would be one big step
for mankind.
These are the reasons why I would like to
visit this Red Planet Mars.

First Place - Sufee Kathane Grade 1
If I could visit anywhere, I would go
to…
If I could visit anywhere, I would go to
Big Island, Hawaii. I went to the Big
Island on my last vacation and had an
amazing experience at this special place.
So I want to keep going there again and
again!
I would like to share a few things about
Big Island and my trip. To me, the Big
Island is like no other place on the planet.
It has big mountains like Mauna Loa as
well as warm sandy beaches where you
can go snorkeling with colorful tropical
fishes. You see green turtles called
“honu” and you can even swim with
dolphins. Big Island is also home to lush
rainforests with flowers like orchids and
many beautiful birds like the Hawaiian
Nene. I saw rare, tiny, bright red birds
called the “apapane” that sing and call
“cheep”,” cheep” all day! The rainforests
also have lots of rain, layers of trees and
huge dark green ferns. The Hawaii
Volcano National Park is very famous.
This national park is unique because of
active volcanoes erupting and creating
lava and new land. It is simply awesome!
The most memorable part of my trip to
Big Island was earning my junior ranger
badge at the national park! At the Junior
ranger program, I learnt about science,
geology and Hawaiian culture. The visit
to the National Park and the junior ranger
program helped me understand the
importance of protecting nature and
culture for everyone to enjoy.
We need to really take good care of
earth’s rare animals, birds and plants.
Next year, my little sister will be old
enough to be junior ranger. I want to
share my learnings and have a new
experience with her at the Volcano
National Park. And that is why I can’t
wait to visit the Big Island of Hawaii and
Volcano National Park again very soon!

If I could visit anywhere in the world….
If I could go visit anywhere in the world,
I would go to Ninjago. Where is
Ninjago? It’s in the West-East. I would
go to learn how to be a Ninja. Ninjas
protect Ninjago from a lot of villains who
want to take over Ninjago. The people of
Ninjago have elemental powers which
are really good. Elemental powers allow
them to defend themselves and also
Ninjago. Ninjago is cool. People get
their “spirit dragons” by trusting in
themselves. Trusting in yourself is a
good thing because you have to trust
yourself so that you can defend Ninjago.
