I`m Roaring like a Lion By Jack Prelutsky

I’m Roaring like a Lion
By Jack Prelutsky
I’m roaring like a lion,
I’m croaking like a frog,
I’m shrieking like a monkey,
I’m grunting like a hog.
I’m snorting like a buffalo,
I’m whooping like a crane.
My mother’s making liver…
I thought I should complain.

The waterfall is like a child crying over a piece
of candy.
The smell is like a clear summer day when the
wind blows.
When the water hits the rocks it goes splash,
splash, kapow.
It sounds like milk splashing down in the
cheerio bowl.

Predictable
Poor as a church mouse.
strong as an ox,
cute as a button,
smart as a fox.
thin as a toothpick,
white as a ghost,
fit as a fiddle,
dumb as a post.
bald as an eagle,
neat as a pin,
proud as a peacock,
ugly as sin.
When people are talking
you know what they'll say
as soon as they start to
use a cliché.

I’m Tortured by Insomnia
I’m tortured by insomnia,
I cannot sleep tonight,
The slightest sound seems louder
Than exploding dynamite.
I hear creaking in the kitchen,
I hear squeaking on the stairs,
And the furnace sounds like oxen
Being chased by angry bears.
There’s a faucet drip-drip-dripping.
Roaring like a waterfall,
And outside my bedroom window
I hear ogres playing ball.
There’s an ancient locomotive
Chugging straight across the rug,
Getting louder every second…
It is probably a bug.
I have counted sheep for hours,
Half a million, one by one,
I could have counted walruses,
For all the good it’s done.
The alley cats’ cacophony
Is ringing in my headI won’t eat ten desserts again
Before I go to bed.

Dreams
by Langston Hughes
Hold fast to dreams
For if dreams die
Life is a broken-winged bird
That cannot fly.
Hold fast to dreams
For when dreams go
Life is a barren field
Frozen with snow
