The closer it gets towards the end of the season the more important games get. Losing this one for us would have spelled
the end of any chance we have of making finals, so it was a must win game. I thought we played fairly well for the first 3
qtrs but we were leaking easy goals to south to keep them in the game. The last quarter was enjoyable to pile on the
goals and enjoy the win. It helps our percentage which will help us if we were to sneak into the top 5. Had a really good
spread of players contributing which is always pleasing.

After a disappointing match against Terang Mortlake the reserves bounced back. From the start we had a RHG (red hot
go), in the third quarter we OTFG (opened the flood gates), and by the end we we BIT (back in town).
This weeks highlight was post quarter time straight kicking, posting 17-3. The lowlight was a personal one, having
received a switch 50m in the clear I was told to 'go for a run old boy' by our ruckman. He should have been dragged.
Next weeks game against Camperdown will be a real challenge, as injuries continue to disjoint our finals preparations.

Another disappointing loss to a much bigger/stronger and faster side in south on the weekend. There isn't too many under
18.5 teams I've seen of late that have 4 players 6ft3 and above.
Whilst they were a very well drilled side I thought it was our lack of hunger for the ball and contest which was most
frustrating. Although we fired in the last and won that qrt, the game was out of our hands by then. The boys will continue
to work hard and improve. This is a young developing side and the difference between our best and worst is too great.

The A Grade girls had a tough physical encounter against
South. We started the game strongly putting 3 goals on the
board before South scored. South then settled and came
back at us to draw level and that's how the first quarter went.
We took a narrow lead into quarter time. Some changes
were made at the break as I thought we needed more drive
in attack and defensive pressure. The second quarter went
the same as the first. Goal for goal and then we would get a
few ahead to then have south come back at us. We took a
very slender lead into half time. The team remained the
same but the girls did not have a good third quarter. We
started not too bad and again got a bit of a lead but south
again came back and started to over run us. We became a
bit flat footed and stopped driving. South got a 3 goal lead
on us and seemed to be more aggressive to the ball. After
an injury time the girls settled a bit but could not peg the
lead back so went into the last quarter down. We made
another change in defence and the girls were asked to lift
and put more pressure over the ball. They did what I asked
and started to make inroads into the south lead. The
intensity in the game lifted and we started to force south into
making mistakes and missed shots which we were able to
rebound. The girls fought back hard and had a good last
quarter to win by 2 goals.

Against South Warni in Round 15, unfortunately we
suffered our third loss for the season. The girls came
out firing in the first quarter and won this by 4 goals (84). We worked for the 4 goal buffer. The second
quarter was just the same winning this one by another
two goals (9-7) bringing the half time score to 17-11
and were sitting comfortably, maybe a little too
comfortable. I think in the second half and towards the
last bit of the second quarter we became complacent,
we became quiet and we forgot how to fight for a win.
Unfortunately in the third quarter we lost by 4 goals
and the last by 3, we only ended up losing the game by
just one goal. In the end they won because they
wanted it more than us and there determination paid
off. This week we will go back to the training track and
work really hard to get everything back to normal
before our finals series comes around. Jami Luhrs was
once again instrumental in defence and she just keeps
going from strength to strength. Libby Murray was once
again in the bests, think she has really hit form for the
season and hope she keeps up her work rate right until
the end. We have another couple of tough games left
in out rounds so hoping we can get up and do our club
proud. Girls- keep your heads held high, our hard work
will pay off.

The much anticipated clash against South Warrnambool
was a close encounter all day. We began the game strongly
taking an early lead but then unforced errors dried up our
scoring opportunities and South capitalized on these
mistakes. South held the lead at quarter time by one and
maintained this narrow lead in the second and third quarter.
With six minutes to play in the last scores were level. We
then found something extra and broke the game open,
winning the game by 5 goals.
Well done A1!

The girls were up against a very talented and well
drilled team from South Warrnambool. The girls played
a fantastic first half. Only down by 3 at the main break.
But they had a lapsed in the third, only scoring 5 goals
to South's 11. We ended up going down by 12 but it
was huge improvement since the last time we met.
Keep your heads up girls, you now know you can take
it up to he top teams.

After a stern talking to 17 & Under’s came out firing. We
jumped to a 3 goal lead. South started to find their feet and
played strong netball. Threw out the whole came it was goal
for goal. Changes were made in Roos team and the game
was amazing to watch. South came out winners by 3 goals
after a hard fought game. Roos need to be proud of the way
they conducted themselves on court because as their coach
I was beaming with pride. A real team effort with all 9
players contributing.
Coaches comments – Kira Ryan
This week was a do or die game for the 13 & Under’s
and they had to win to keep their finals chances alive.
South got the jump on us but we hung on to trail by 1
goal at the first change. The second quarter we let
South get away and at half time they were leading by 5
goals.
After a few changes at the half, which gave us some
different combinations than we're used to, the Roos
came out firing and got the first four goals of the
quarter. The defensive pressure of South proved to be
too much for the Roos and we lost by 3 goals. The girls
should be so proud of themselves because the last
time we played they beat us by 6, and the whole team
has showed so much improvement over the season.
