Biscuit Champion - know how
This is broadly what the Biscuit Champion undertakes to do for her team:
• Take delivery of promotional material unless advised differently
• Arrange for the display of promotional material in the local community
• Distribute unit supplies of biscuits for programme activities (unless advised differently)
• Co-ordinate the delivery and storage for the biscuits
• Accountability for the biscuits held and their distribution
• At time of stock delivery, ensure damaged/short supply/over supply of product is accounted for and reported
to the national biscuit team ([email protected] or 0800 22 22 92)
• Resources to assist the girls to sell are readily available eg. posters and stickers are available, copies of pre sales order forms are available
• Ensure that efficient processes are in place for pick up and returns
• Efficient reporting of the stock levels of the Girl Biscuit Allocation and biscuit income
• Sales reporting by email on a weekly basis during March and subsequent wrap up
• Stall roster templates are available
• Money is banked promptly
Be Biscuit Prepared, a one stop shop for info, will be available from 30 January. We will
have all the details about managing the money.
Girl Biscuit Allocation
Despite our best efforts, 2016 was not successful for selling Guide Biscuits nationally.
Subsequently, we still have stock to sell in 2017 that was produced in 2016 which has to
be sold as part of this year’s selling season.
As you know, this year we celebrate 60 years of Guide Biscuits. The stock which Griffins is manufacturing in 2017 has a
pink image (pictured) celebrating our anniversary on every side of the carton. The stock from 2016 has no
distinguishing marks on the carton.
Biscuits delivered to all biscuit champions will have a mix of this stock and we request that the stock without the 60
year image is sold first, starting with the earliest best before date.
If you wish to order more biscuits, you certainly can. Please do so on this form or email [email protected]
with your request.
Selling price
The selling price is the same across all products at $3.50 per packet.
Each carton contains a different number of packets.

Early selling
Biscuits can be sold from Saturday 28 February so, ideally, selling should not
start before then unless otherwise arranged. But you can arrange for pre-orders
before this date.
Occasionally there is a market or fair or some other exciting event that you want
to be at earlier in February. If this is the case, please check with us first.
Tips for selling
The best thing that sells biscuits is girls. Make sure the adults on each stall know that their role is to get the girls out
from behind any stall table and asking each person if they would like to buy some biscuits. It is very hard to turn down
a pippin or brownie. With this in mind, mix up your selling groups and pair rangers and guides with pippins and
brownies - it is a great way for the sections to link with each other and to get more support on each stall. Sure the girls
will experience some rejection from people who don’t want to buy, but that is part of the learning experience - some
may even be inspired into a sales career later in life.
Please also remember - the role of adults on the stall is to help teach girls - so ensure they know how to help with
checking the right change is being given, rather than handling the money themselves.
Think about areas where there is high foot or car traffic.
Be visible and look professional.
Use the resources provided such as posters.
Promote your location through posters/advertising so people know when and where you are selling.
Provide contact details for pre-ordering.
What to look out for next week 1 February - lots of info about managing the money!!
