PUBLIC HEALTH HIGHLIGHTS
Tooele County Health Department 2015 Annual Report
Message From the Health Officer, Jeff Coombs:
The staff and leadership of Tooele County Health Department are proud to present the health department’s
2015 annual report. Tooele County Health Department continues to demonstrate community leadership in
providing services and steering the community to healthier lifestyles and outcomes. The department changed
it’s hours of operation to accommodate more clinic time and expand other health department services. Some of
the activities highlighted in this report include projects that increased community access to healthy foods. The
department assisted community partners in adopting tobacco policies and addressed concerns about ecigarettes. Every division in the department pursued quality improvement projects focusing on delivery of
services or way to improve health outcomes. Some projects went on to gain national recognition and were used
to demonstrate best practices in the field of public health. Efforts in suicide awareness and interventions helped
to lower the suicide rate from the previous years. While providing this high level of services the department was
able to stay with-in budget in fiscally challenging times. We would like to acknowledge the continued support of
our community partners, board members, and elected officials and recognize them for their commitment to
helping us create a healthier Tooele County. This Annual Report contains a sampling of our department’s
activities, interventions, and highlights from 2014
