Gospel:
John 11:1-45
† We ask that you offer a prayer for those who have died, especially for: Joseph
Cavallaro, Jeff Edgar, Pia Beidler, Harold A. Viereck, Robert Augustus Lynch, Dan
Panter, Richard Lutz, Mary Anne Hardy, Robert Dohnal, Angela Luddy, Ronald
Wavrin, and Ann Taskey.
Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them.
May their souls and the souls of all the faithful departed,
through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
Also, please pray for those who are sick, especially for: Mary K. Kreisle, Arnold
D’Amico, Cecilia Wan, Michael Muir, Stephen Galvin, Elizabeth Ann Robinson,
Jersey Martin, Jennifer Fryler, Katherine Million Welch, Robert Anthony, Josephine
DiMiceli, Mary Brown, Brenda Markham, Betty Allen, Francie Mooney, Rebecca
DuVall, and Brenda Uhler.
Most people have a vague awareness of the ‘social services safety net’ that various
government agencies have in place to support the poor. For St. Vincent DePaul case
workers, called Vincentians, a basic level of understanding of these programs is helpful in order to faithfully guide the person toward a better life situation.
Certainly, Vincentians cannot be experts in this area. But they are trained to listen
carefully to the person’s needs and can make basic referrals as needed. One program
that comes up regularly is Section 8 Housing, funded by Housing and Urban Development via housing vouchers.
A recent case makes the point. A 54 year old male Veteran living in Decatur moved
here in 2016 from Ohio while employed, but then lost his job last December. Struggling to pay his bills, he faced eviction from his apartment in a matter of days when he
reached out to St. Vincent DePaul.
While conducting their home visit, our Vincentians found out that he was doing a lot
to help himself out of this situation. He had applied for Section 8 Housing and received approval just a couple of days prior, and as a result, his monthly rent payment
would be significantly reduced. This good news gave assurance that he could support
himself going forward, and made it easier for our Vincentians to recommend going
above and beyond our normal guidelines to pay the rent to a current status to avoid
eviction.
Thanks to our generous IHM parishioners, St. Vincent DePaul was able to keep a roof
over this Vet’s head and he should be able to support himself going forward.

MEN’S CLUB MEETING
Tuesday, April 4
The April edition of the IHM Men’s Club features Father Tom Ellerman, S.M.
As a Marist religious and a native Atlantan, Fr. Ellerman understands the role
and struggles that men face living out their faith and finding Catholic role models.
As the Council called all people to become holy, the Marist religious found that
Mary is the model of behavior for life. How did a woman, Mary, become the
call for men as a model of life? How can men in the laity embrace Mary as
more than a devotion?
Join us for dinner and beer and find out. We will meet on Tuesday, April 4 at
6:30 p.m. in the lower level of the church.
If you would like to donate blood at this drive,
please refrain from giving after another site
after March 22. Thank you for your generosity!

This Sunday, in their third and final scrutiny, the
Elect of our parish will meditate on Jesus’s raising
of Lazarus from the dead. They do so in the hope
that, through the waters of baptism, Jesus will
soon call them forth to new life, just as he once
called Lazarus forth from the tomb. In its foreshadowing of Easter morning, the raising of Lazarus emphatically reminds us of Christ’s power
over death!
Let’s all join our Elect this week in praying for the
new life that Jesus promises.

18 años y no has recibido los
sacramentos de Bautismo, Primera
Comunión y Confirmación, te invitamos a
