Play Description: The Doig Phosphate – Upper Montney Sunrise-Septimus Resource Gas Play is a special case of the
Montney Distal Resouce Gas Play where the overlying Doig Phosphate is deemed to contribute gas to the production of
the well. In some cases the ‘Phosphate Zone’ is the only completed interval and in other cases it is combined with the
underlying Upper Montney siltstones and sands. The two zones are in close proximity and it is often difficult to distinguish
from other Montney gas plays. The original intent of the play definition was to cover the true ‘shale gas’ aspect of the Montney,
although that remains somewhat problematic.
