Grandma Roger Stevens

Grandma
Roger Stevens
Grandma was always there
Always had silver hair
Lived next door
But when we visited her
In the nursing home
Part of her was missing
Who are you? She asked me.
I told her
Remember how we used to
Go to the market
To buy scraps of silk?
She smiled.
Remember you took me to
The Seaside Bingo
And I won a dartboard?
She nodded.
Remember me and Grandad
Playing football on the yard
And breaking the shed door?
We both laughed.
And when the bell rang
And the nurse said
It’s time to go
I held Grandma’s hand
And she said,
Who are you?
