USING THE DESKTOP PORTAL
Thisappliestoallusersaccessingthevirtualdesktop(s)fromaWindowsPC,MacintoshOSX,Chromebook
orThinClientsystemusingawebbrowser.ForThinClientusersconnectingpleaseseethe"Connecting
fromaThinClient"section. UsingtheDesktopPortaltoaccessvirtualdesktop(s)isnotrequired. This
informationislistedwithinthisdocumentaswell.
Dependingonthebrowserused,someoftheiconswillbedifferent. Itisrecommendedtousethe
latestversionofChromeand/orInternetExplorer. Recommendationsaretotryusingbothofthese.
Ifthereareotherbrowsersused,pleasetestthoseaswell.
CONNECT TO PORTAL
ToconnecttotheVirtualDesktop(s),usethepreferredwebbrowserandaccess:
https://remote.cliftoncollege.com
Entertheusernameandpasswordandclickthe“Login”button.
Checkingthe“Automaticallyconnecttodefaultdesktop”willauto‐connecttoaparticularvirtualdesktop.

PROTOCOL OPTIONS
ConnectingtoavirtualdesktopcanbedoneviatheDesktopPortalordirectlythroughtheViewClient.
Generally,thedefaultprotocolisPCoIP. InordertousePCoIP,theVMwareViewClientMUSTbeinstalled.
Belowarethetwoavailableprotocols. TouseBlast/HTML,abrowserMUSTbecompatiblewithHTML5.

ToinstallthePCoIPClient,clickontheDownloadClientslinkontheleftundertheDesktoporpoolname
sectionwithinthePortal. Ifthelinkdoesnotworkgodirectlyto‐

LocalModeoption.

thePOC.

orApplicationundertheConnectcolumn.

PCoIPmaybeused. ConnectingviadirectlythroughtheViewClient,doesNOTrequireusingtheDesktop
Portal(seeabove:ConnectingviaDesktopPortal).
CONFIGURE THE SERVER WITHIN THE HORIZON VIEW CLIENT

Asidebarwillbeshownthatpullsouttothis thetabontheleftsideofthescreen.Besidesswipingthis
tabtotherighttoopenthesidebar,alsobyslidingthetabupordown.
Horizon Client Tools
Thesetoolsincludebuttonsfordisplayingtheonscreenkeyboard,virtualtouchpad,configurationsettings,
andavirtualkeypadforarrowkeysandfunctionkeys.
Aradialmenuappearsinthemiddleofthescreenwhenconnectedtoaremotedesktoporapplication.
