Mineral Purchasing Program Spring 2017

You must be a member of the Carroll County Beef Producers to participate in the cooperative
purchasing program (join on the order form below). Producers from any county are invited to join
the Carroll County Beef Producers.
- High Magnesium Mineral or Buttercup Yellow Mineral are good choices to prevent grass tetany if your cattle will be
consuming spring grasses.
- Fly Control Mineral is being offered to aid in the control of horn flies. The larvaecide is Altosid, very friendly to the
environment and is only being offered in the Breeding and Gestation Mineral with vitamins. (See attached tech sheet.)
- Weatherized Mineral mixes are available in three formulas: Spring Green Beef Mineral, Buttercup Yellow Hi-Mag Beef
Mineral and Royal Blue Breeding Mineral. These minerals resist clumping better if moisture is introduced.
-Low Moisture Opti-ferm Lix Tubs offer forage supplements with consistent consumption. Once the top layer is
consumed, animals must wait for the next layer to soften preventing over consumption. We are offering four low moisture
200 pound tubs this spring; 12% High Energy, 25% All Natural, 16% High-Mag and 14% w/Fly Relief (Altosid).
Consumption of low moisture tubs is approximately half of the consumption of traditional poured tubs.
Another cooperative mineral purchase will be offered in September 2017, so be sure to order a six month supply. Over six
months, each cow will consume approximately 40-50 lbs. of mineral mix. Calves will also consume minerals.

Orders will be available for pickup at Farmers Exchange in Carrollton from March 29th through April 8nd.
