Materials:!

2 Large Paper Plates!
2 Small Paper Plates!
Black spray paint, marker or crayons!
Googly Eyes or white paper!
Glue!

Directions:!

Complete the KWL activity below.!
1. Start by writing all the things you
know about spiders.!
2. Then write some questions or things you want to learn
about spiders.!
3. Finally, research spiders either at the library or online
and write down all the things you learned about spiders.!

Complete the Fact and Opinion activity below.!
1. Paint or color 2 small and 2 large paper plates black and glue them together as
shown. Then attach googly eyes or make eyes out of white paper.!
2. Print and cut out the fact and opinion strips below on grey or white card stock.
You can use the facts and opinions I created or come up with some of your
own.!
3. Glue the fact definition to one spider’s face and the opinion definition to the
other spider’s face. !
4. Cut a small triangle out of white paper and glue on fangs to the mouth.!
5. Have your student read the strips and glue them as legs to the correct spider.!
6. Fold the legs in accordion style.!

Write about spiders.!
1. Use the writing paper below.!
2. Write about a fact you learned. Example: I learned that
spiders can have many eyes. !
3. Write about an opinion you have about spiders.
Example: I think spiders are (good/bad) because…!
4. Glue the writing to the body of the spider.!
